  • Family-run site under an hour’s drive from the Welsh coast
  • Mid-Wales countryside setting 20 minutes' drive from Machynlleth
  • Games room and playground on site
On your marks, get set, and CrinGOed to this friendly, family-orientated park sitting pretty in the mid-Wales countryside, under an hour’s drive away from the Welsh coast. A warm welcome from the Cringoed Caravan Park owners awaits: they've been working hard for over 15 years to perfect this family-run gem, leading to a well laid-out park set against spectacular woods. Comfort is the name of the game here: hot showers and electric hook-up is available, as are dishwashing facilities, a laundry, chemical disposal point and access to wifi. Kids have a play area and games room to keep them busy in weathers both fair and foul. Dogs are allowed all year round too, so be sure to bring the pooch along to take part in proceedings. For supplies, the village of Llanbrynmair (with its convenience store and homely pub) is a mile away, and the cafés, pubs and shops of Machynlleth are just over 20 minutes away by car.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked EVERYTHING!! This site was absolutely perfect for us and the two beagles. The site itself is very well maintained, the grass is mown, the paths and roads are super neat and the scenery is stunning. It’s nestled in a valley with access to a stream which is ideal for the dogs. Minimal light pollution so star gazing is very very optional. The site is very quiet and all the residents are super friendly and welcoming. Paul the owner is fantastic and really does go out of his way to make you feel welcome and he is really very helpful. The site itself is very basic amenity wise but honestly the showers, toilet and wash up facilities are really clean, and in good working order. There is a washing machine and tumble drier available at a cost, which both work and are very clean. The showers are electric and provide consistent and hot water, shower power is not mega but a hot shower after a long day was really appreciated. The toilets have handwash and hand driers available. There is a designated dog walkers field just outside the main site which is completely enclosed and again care and attention is evident as there are mown paths and long grass for both dog walkers and dogs to enjoy. This site is also close to the world famous Mach loop and we were lucky enough to see a couple of aircraft, it’s also pretty central to explorers if you don’t mind a drive, want to see waterfalls and chase dragons, it’s about 40 minutes to Dolgoch falls, there are plenty of local walks to enjoy if driving around isn’t your thing. We would definitely stay again and would 100% recommend if you want to be away from civilisation, off comms and don’t mind having sketchy cell service. The site does have guest WiFi available for free, it’s a little slow but we didn’t come to be on our phones and actually liked the peace and quiet! It is on the more costly side for a campsite but given the peaceful atmosphere, friendliness and helpfulness of the owner, friendliness of the residents we would pay to stay again.

Disliked Nothing to dislike in our opinion, only good vibes from us.

Liked Lovely small quiet site. The owner Paul was really welcoming and helpful with his local knowledge. He recommended a pub for us to enjoy a pub lunch. The site was not overcrowded and had a lovely river and dog run section which we used to watch the sun set. I would recommend for a quiet and cosy break

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The campsite is located in a beautiful area and the tent pitches are right by the river. The toilets are clean and well maintained and the laundry/dishwashing room was a great addition.

Disliked The toilets were a good walk away from the tent pitches. We had to walk past all the caravans to get there which felt a bit bizarre. We were also pitched right next to two couples who were up until 11-11:30pm chatting and laughing. They weren't being antisocial but we had a 7 year old with us and there were plenty of other pitches they could have been allocated away from us.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked A really nice site and ideally located to explore more of Mid Wales; We used it as a base to visit Hafren Forest, Aberdyfi, and even cruise up to Black Rock Sands, before eventually moving on. So many options within an 80 minute radius.

We had a hardstanding pitch with 16 amp hookup, which was great, but the grass pitches (for camping) were equally well equipped and flat.

Paul was nice, the site was tidy and well kept, there was a great little kids play area, and even a babbling brook behind the bushes.

We will most certainly be coming back in the future.

Camping pod (family)

Liked The location is ideal, just a stone’s throw away from Llyn Clywedog Dam, Bryntail Leadworks, and Hafren Forest. If you're looking for a peaceful, serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place to be.

A special mention to the owner, Paul, who was such a warm and welcoming host. It was an absolute pleasure staying here, and we’re so grateful for the wonderful experience. We’re already looking forward to coming back on our next trip!

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked * pitch area was clean
* Situated in beautiful area, but it lacked amenities, like shop. You had to drive a fair bit to next village.
*Dog run , was perfect the best we have seen. Plenty of spaces and it's reached by road. ! Suggestion maybe a walk bridge from site to dog walk , if feedable.
* Very quiet and peaceful, with sound of birds and river water,

Disliked * Confusion over on pitch positioning the caravan as there was no Markings to indicate this - there is improvement to do so .
* Having pitch numbers would be ideal
* No shed where we could find information on what's around the area or information on where to find food shop , cafe, pub restaurant - there is improvement to do so
* Also a bookshelf for book swapping in the "information shed " should they decide to put one up.
* Toilets. Mens side was not as clean as the ladies - but improvements can be made. Like signs could be put up to state after use.

From the manager: Before we comment on this, we are asking Pitch up to follow this up on the basis this is not a review !

Hello Melvin,

To all our guests from the past and newcomers we thank you for the positive feedback both in person and in written form. More often than not we never find the need to respond as your comments speak for themselves.

Imagine our dismay from our family of three from who felt it appropriate to make scathing comments in a review. As with all our guests we endeavour to point out the layout of the park and respond to any questions raised about location and facilities.

Cringoed has evolved over 20 plus years, as for your comments, such as the dog field being accessible by road, the dog field is a new addition to the site and is a very good perk included within the price of your stay, so the aspect of it being accessible by road is hardly justified, it’s a walk of 20 meters on a wide grass verge. .Thankfully it is most appreciated by all other users.

Based upon your summary, perhaps a question mark isn’t it a little odd, of the guests leaving us yesterday, you were the last to leave, with so much negativity why did you stay so long.

Now to your rather unfortunate suggestions, based upon assumptions or fabrications.

In the laundry room, there are boards on the wall that indicate pubs near by and activities. It is also possible to ask staff where you can go as we have lived here all of our lives and are more than happy to suggest places of interest and places that are worth visiting.

It’s also possible to google where you are going before your visit so that you can have this planned out! Not forgetting there are numerous leaflets on display, in the Laundry room. Likewise Pitch up displays all available services we have, which clearly you failed to check.

Is it really a review to comment on whether there is a book swapping shed.

As for signage perhaps you missed them, mops are provided in both toilets, it
is also common courtesy for people to clean up after themselves, in addition
too the numerous cleaning the park provides, no less than 6 times a day.

Pitch numbers, why is this even relevant when all our guests including you are given an escort to the available pitches.
