  • Peaceful, family-friendly site in the scenic Clarach Valley
  • A 10-minute drive to Aberystwyth or Borth beach; Snowdonia further out
  • Parking spaces provided, with pubs and shops in the town
Tracking down beaches, mountains, forests, lakes and caverns is easy from Campsiriol in the scenic Clarach Valley. At this family-friendly site in Bow Street in Ceredigion, you'll only be a few minutes' drive from a scenic coastal strip belonging to the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, a green, wildlife-friendly and community-driven area. So, head on down, unpack your bits and drive the five minutes to Clarach Bay or 10 minutes to Borth beach or Aberystwyth. Options for a plunge include a swim from Clarach or beach-to-beach kayaking or paddleboarding from Borth beach, where the low tide will also reveal tree stumps in the sand remaining from an ancient forest. In Aberystwyth, there are more beach paddles, a cliff railway, donkey rides and Edwardian steam train adventures on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to choose from… all with the knowledge that the town has a generous selection of shops, pubs, ice cream shops, cafés and gourmet restaurants for your return. When you’ve had your fill of all the local beaches or forests, waterfalls, mossy valleys, hills and mountains inland, Campsiriol is a peaceful, family-friendly place to return to with parking spaces and permission to get a firepit going when the sun goes down. Just make sure to get a good night’s sleep in, as tomorrow could involve fishing, dolphin watching or amusement arcades locally. Want to leave the car behind? Bow Street station is under a mile away, which is very handy for trips to Aberystwyth and circular walks.

What customers say

This is a small, peaceful campsite with beautiful views and a great location, ideal for exploring the coast and nearby Aberystwyth. Pitches are generally spacious, and cars are not allowed on the field. Facilities include clean toilets and showers, though some visitors note the shower requires a £1 coin and that additional facilities like a washing-up station would be beneficial. Owners are frequently described as friendly and helpful. The site is particularly recommended for those seeking a quiet, uncomplicated camping experience.

Cyclist only non-electric grass tent pitch (backpacker, no cars)

Liked CampSiriol was great. Everything was just as described so we weren't expecting great luxury, but we were really pleasantly surprised. The camping field is kept really nicely, with lovely wild margins and nice smooth mowed areas to pitch tents (a slight slope but nothing too difficult), there are beautiful views all around. The shower costs £1 (as advertised) but this gives you 10 full minutes of properly hot water in a nice warm (and very clean) indoor bathroom (made a world of difference since we chose the only 2 days of apocalyptically bad weather of the summer so far!) - I expect this might be in high demand when the site is full, but there was only us and one other tent. Everything felt very well organised and safe too (I had my 9 yo son with me and he enjoyed it). We didn't meet the owners but had very friendly and helpful communication with them via messages - they even checked on our tent when we were off-site and the wind unexpectedly got really strong. It is a very easy 15 minute walk from the train station and we got buses to Borth and Aber with no problems.

Will definitely come again and am very keen to get involved in the yoga/shiatsu massage offered by one of the owners in a yoga studio next to the campsite. Heard from a local that it is really great.

Disliked not a dislike really, more of a suggestion for improvement - would be great to have a kitchen area - even just an outdoor (but covered) washing up station.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Clear instructions
Good location
Nice small site one field and no cars on field (they stay on driveway area)

Disliked Only one bathroom wasn’t an issue for me as no one else stayed but could be problematic if there were more campers

Motorcycle only non-electric grass tent pitch (no cars)

Liked The wheel barrow to get my bag down into the field and back up, the water tap at the top of the field, and the metal chair by the fire pit (I didn’t light a fire but I ate my supper there and looked at the views. I also liked the clear light - pollution - free sky in the night.

Disliked The £1 meter for a shower. I booked on the hoof via my phone and didn’t see the warning that the showers cost money. I had no pound coin, so no shower.
The previous night I had stayed in a small site where the shower was free, and it makes a difference to offer that hospitality.

Disliked No washing up facility (although didn't bother us much at all)

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked We had a nice grass pitch, there was plenty of space to set up our tent and we had a lovely view of the hills and landscapes around us. We went to Borth beach and Aberystwyth which is both around a 15 min drive from the campsite.

Disliked There are two bathrooms one of which has the only shower (costs 1£), so if people need to shower there was only one toilet left. This led to queues every now and then. The toilet without the shower was unfortunately not very well cleaned.
There is not much space for cars, it always worked out but we were sometimes worried about finding a parking space when returning.
