  • Family- and dog-friendly site 20 minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay
  • A 15-minute drive from the Ceredigion Coast Path at New Quay
  • Folly Farm and Oakwood Theme Park both within an hour's drive
Coastal walks with your best (canine) pal, dolphin-spotting boat tours and lengthy beach days… might you fancy saying a big yes please to all that? At Gellie Camping, a small family-run and family-friendly place just under a mile from the village of Plwmp in Ceredigion, West Wales, it’s all within easy reach. Gellie Camping is a top spot for anyone who wants to explore the Welsh coastline, with the Ceredigion Coast Path and its stunning views over Cardigan Bay passing less than 15 minutes’ drive from the site. If you’re not the walking type, you can see the coastline from a different angle with a boat trip around the bay (keep an eye out for dolphins), or stay active on site with a game of volleyball or a kickabout on the football pitch. Barbecues and campfires are allowed at the site, so fire one up (stacked high with goodies from the shop less than five minutes away), or enjoy the spoils around the other; washing-up facilities are on site whichever you pick. Prefer to take a break from cooking (and cleaning)? Plenty of restaurants to try are within 15 minutes of Gellie Camping.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: This is a great campsite with good facilities. Most useful of which is a fridge and freezer! The toilets and showers are good and the pitches are great. The owner is a lovely woman and was very helpful and friendly. The site has two camping fields and one field in the middle for activities which is great for the kids. There are also a few rope swings which all the kids enjoyed. The campsite is perfectly situated to some lovely nearby beaches such as Mwnt, Penbryn and Newquay where we have managed to see dolphins twice along with other sea life. Aberystwyth is about 40 minutes away and Cardigan about 25. There are a few local shops and a garage about a 5 min drive along with supermarkets in Cardigan. There is a bit of wildlife at the camp itself -we saw rabbits one evening and see geese flying over. The view of the stars is very clear here and it's fairly quiet. Well worth a visit!

Disliked: A small thing but I think the toilet area could do with something for people to wipe feed etc before they come in as grass got everywhere (and some inconsiderate campers washed their grassy things in the sinks leaving grass for other campers which was unpleasant). No reflection on the owner at all because those the toilets were cleaned regularly. Just a thought for future as I'm sure it wasn't easy for them cleaning the grass either. Not a dislike as such, but would appreciate a place to charge mobile phones as this is a non electric site. I and many others I'm sure use their phones for navigating the area and it's not always easy charging via the car if you are going short distances. Would not put me off staying again though just something that would add a little extra.
