Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Small and quiet site

Disliked: The dangerous enterance, my car became stuck and is now damaged. I politely informed the owners who were completly dis interested and didnt bother to reply to my email. The postcode took me on a wild goose chase also. The owners sent me an email a few days before my arrival which i later found in my junk mail, not their fault I know but since I didnt reply to any of their questions in this email maybe good customer service woukd look like following this up since the access to the site is so poor to warn customers. Only 1 female shower on site.

From the manager: If you had read the email I sent to you, you would have known how to approach the site and there would have been no issues and you had read them because you knew you were on pitch 6. I send details out for a reason. Jon

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Site very small, only about 10 pitches at the top of a hill, (in fact in New Quay everything is on a hill). The views from the decking area are incredible and enjoyed a late afternoon drink standing up there and just watching the sea. Good covered seating area also with electric and a fridge, which in the evening we moved into. Good price, level pitches for a good nights sleep. We couldn't really fault it.

Disliked: Not a right lot to dislike. A whiff of septic tank while on the deck was unpleasant, however it was only occasional. Just the one shower each (ladies and gents. Though I didn't have to queue, maybe people while camping don't shower twice a day or they just get up later than we do.

Electric gravel and hardstanding campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Really nice site! Amazing views and although we didnt meet the owner Jon, he sent us all the info we needed. We were pitch 1 and we were impressed with the clean toilets and showers and pot washing area. The wooden garden room is a welcome place to sit and eat your dinner or have a drink and look at the splendid views. Kids saw mention on a sign about the pool so were devastated to find it empty. Lovely site - a pool and working sauna would have been amazing!

From the manager: Thank you for a lovely review. Sorry pool closed during Covid and was not mentioned in any advertising details. Thank you Jon

Electric gravel and hardstanding campervan pitch (no awning)

Liked: Quiet site overlooking bay, where you can spot dolphins if you remember to take your binoculars. Understated site, small, less than 10 pitches, everything you need though, showers, loos, washing up, electric hookup.(We much prefer sites like this!) A hidden gem away from the massive commercial sites...!Lovely addition of summer house with seating, fridge for those on non electric pitches etc. Good location to New Quay which is short walk away (bit like a Welsh Padstow). Owner was happy to swap our dates when we had van trouble at last min so we could camp in tent, but luckily for us garage fixed it and we had the best gravel pitch overlooking bay from my bed in the morning. We've been before, and will be back another day. Thanks Jon.

Disliked: Nothing not to like.

Electric gravel and hardstanding campervan pitch (no awning)

Liked: Everything you need on the campsite- toilets, showers, washing up facilities , drinking water tap and also a fridge and power points in a garden room on the upper terrace with a lovely view. Jon was really friendly and helpful . Quiet site with no traffic- except for campers and essential services. You need to be quite agile to walk up or down to Newquay Village- local taxi £5/6 to come back up.

Local attractions

For a longer treks, take the Ceredigion Coast Path as far as Cardigan to the south and Aberystwyth to the north if you're up for it; a more modest two-and-a half-hour hike winds round to the celebrated beach at Llangrannog (20 minutes), where intrepid walkers can be rewarded with a dip in the sea and a spot of refreshment at the conveniently placed pub. There’s masses to keep everyone amused inland as well: a quarter of an hour away, the Georgian pile of Llanerchaeron sits prettily in the wood-filled Aeron valley, home to a working farm full of rare-breed beasts, a walled garden and a lake to wander. For something a bit wilder and wetter, make the half hour trip to Cenarth Falls and the famed salmon leap, or 50 minutes to the wetlands of the Welsh Wildlife Centre, where you can wander trails looking for kingfishers, otters and water buffalo. To explore the rivers close up, Cardigan (40 minutes) is the spot to try canoeing and kayaking trips along the Teifi river. This pleasant estuary town is a top destination for families with clashing interests: while one lot kayaks the waters, the others can hurtle about the Teifimania Indoor Play Centre or soak up 900 years of history at Cardigan Castle.
