Lampeter Caravan and Camping
Parked up on the pitches
Plenty of room
Plenty of space

  • Motorhome pitches on a farm site with views over the Ceredigion hills
  • Five minutes’ drive to Lampeter, and 25 minutes from Aberaeron
  • Peaceful, simple site just five minutes’ drive from pubs and shops
Visiting the offspring at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David? Or just longing for a quiet motorhome break with a back-to-nature vibe on level grass pitches? Either way, Lampeter Caravan and Camping makes a more-than-handy base. This small, family-run site has spectacular views over the Ceredigion hills at Maesypwll and is five minutes’ drive from the Lampeter campus. While you’re in Lampeter, pick up foodie supplies from the supermarkets in Lampeter, or if cooking is off the schedule (this is your holiday after all) there are pubs, fish and chip shops and takeaways galore for you to choose your supper from. Set on a working farm, the pitches have easy access from the main A475, giving you good connections with the coast at Aberaeron (25 minutes’ drive) or the indie shops of Carmarthen (40 minutes). Simple on-site facilities include a shower and loo block, plus recycling and waste-water disposal. With just a handful of pitches, there is loads of room for kids to let off steam safely and have a run around with (well-behaved) dogs.

What customers say

This is a well-maintained, peaceful campsite with friendly and helpful owners, praised for its cleanliness, spacious pitches, and beautiful rural views. Its proximity to Lampeter and amenities is a key advantage. While most facilities, including hot showers, are considered excellent and show attention to detail, some guests noted that more toilets/showers would be beneficial during busy periods. A few experienced issues with muddy pitches in wet weather, though owners were quick to assist with their tractor. Concerns were raised by a small number regarding noise from other campers and caravan security.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked Easy to find, a well kept site, clean toilets and good shower as well. Very spacious plots, communal fireplace area (wood provided for 1 fire then can purchase more on site after that). A nice chilled quiet site, perfect for us, spoke to a few of the other guests and had a few drinks with them as well one evening. Stuart the owner is a great guy and we will be coming back very soon.

Electric grass touring caravan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked A very nice site.
Shower pressure was off the scale and really clean and hot. The homemade feel might not be to everyone's liking but the laid back atmosphere suited us very well. The onsite cafe is a real bonus as was the touring play in the barn one night.

Disliked A bit steep in places but gives a nice outlook across the site

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked A no frills campsite - the real thing!
Facilities were rustic but very clean and tidy and all that we needed.
Ponies, bunnies and sheep in the field next door. We awoke to birdsong!
Just a few minutes drive into Lampeter for Sainsburys and a whole load of little independent shops (including a very famous florist - Alex at Siop Botanica)
The owner Stuart and his little daughter gave us a very warm welcome.

Local attractions

First stop may well be a day at the coast. Gather everybody up and head for New Quay (half an hour’s drive) with its cute fishing harbour and pocket-sized beach, or choose Aberaeron (25 minutes) to admire its brightly coloured houses and go swimming or sailing. At Aberystwyth (45 minutes) you can take a ride on the cliff railway for wondrous views over Cardigan Bay. At each of these ports of call, there are cafés and restaurants for revitalising after splashing around on the beach. Carmarthen (40 minutes) is a lovely spot to spend the day, with the remains of an ancient Roman amphitheatre, indoor artisan markets and lots of art galleries as well as indie boutiques selling jewellery and crafts. If you have time, take a detour to the Carmarthenshire County Museum in nearby Abergwili (40 minutes) to learn about local Arthurian legends. If you’d like to buy some Welsh souvenirs, plan a visit to In The Welsh Wind Distillery (35 minutes) to pick up some gin, or take home some local honey, beeswax and seeds from Gwenyn Gruffydd honey farm (45 minutes).
