  • Spacious farm site by the coast 10 minutes' drive from Aberteifi
  • Easy access to Ceredigion Coast Path; 20 minutes' walk from Mwnt beach
  • Sea views and private cove for spotting dolphins and birds
Care to head to Ceredigion, for coastal walks, crowd-free beaches, castles… maybe even catching a glimpse of a passing pod of dolphins? What a cracking idea. And an even more cracking idea is nabbing a few days at Nant-y-croi, on the coast between Aberteifi and Aberporth. If it's easy access to the coast you’re after, you’re in the right place: the Ceredigion Coast Path crosses the farm, for an easy meander to Mwnt beach, 20 minutes away. Even before you set forth for that stroll there are super sea views to be had from the site; gaze out towards the waves for a while and you may well spot the seals, dolphins and seabirds that often pass by these parts. This is a properly peaceful place, but niftily also within easy reach of plenty of ways to fill your West Wales days: more beaches, boat trips, canoeing, golf are all nearby, and you’re well placed for outings to Cilgerran Castle, Cenarth Falls and lots of other scenic spots. For eats, you’re welcome to light up a sea-view barbecue; pick up supplies 10 minutes away in Aberteifi and stash them in the fridge-freezer until it’s coals o’clock. Other amenities on site include a washing-up area, launderette and toilets and showers.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Location and the views were lush, good costal walks from the site

Disliked: The toilets/showers are gross, very dated and full of bugs. Got shouted at by some self proclaimed ‘regulars’, that we were in ‘there pitch’ despite the fact that we were told to pick a pitch, and were visited by the owners who didn’t say anything about that pitch being booked or unavailable. Wifi was bad, overall not a good or friendly vibe from the site.

From the manager: Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad experience here. Our facilities might not be first class but they’re certainly not gross and full of bugs. The showers are hot, the facilities are cleaned regularly and perfectly adaquate for a simple farm site.
Unfortunately you did pitch on someone else’s pitch and they did leave a sign on the fence when they went out for the day. We didn’t realise you had pitched there, otherwise we would have said. I’m sorry that they shouted at you, but again, not really a fault of the site how people behave. However we will warn them that inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated as we do not want any guests to feel unwelcome.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: What a hidden gem, plenty of pitches, nicely spaced out, largest defined pitches I’ve come across.
Nice walks in the area. Great base to use for visiting the surrounding area. Excellent little washing up area with coin operated microwave and little comforts. The field has a children’s play area (climbing frame/slide/swings) but this is 60-80m away from the pitches so no noise from the kids playing near the pitches.
Good toilet and shower facilities and very clearly labelled recycling. WiFi worked well at the pitch.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The sea views, nature and access to the coastal path. Local walks, watching the sunset and the wildlife. Helpful owners, clean toilets and plenty of hot water in the showers. Plenty of space to get dressed in the shower block showers.

Disliked: A bonus perhaps but wifi patchy if pitched against the hedge furthest away from the toilet block. Good hedge for wind protection though which ensured our tent remained upright despite strong gusts during our stay.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Absolutely stunning views from this site, we loved that we could look out to sea, across the fields and not at someone elses van ! The site was very peaceful and clean. The toilets and showers were basic but always clean and lots of hot water in the showers. The walks from the site are stunning in both directions, we enjoyed a walk to The Gwbert Hotel and had a very nice meal there. We loved it and look forward to a return visit. Thank you!

Disliked: Wind!! No fault of the site except we pitched at the top and it was extremely windy, so much so out awning collapsed. If we go again we will pitch behind the hedge for protection.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The owners were amazing and couldn’t do enough! They went above & beyond… helped me put my caravan on the pitch as my car struggled up a wet grassy incline & helped jump start my friend’s car on the morning we left! Thank you very much again!

The location is absolutely stunning and at the bottom of the 3 adjoining fields is the coast path, which we used on a number of occasions.

They have thought of everything with facilities, including: a kettle & microwave on 20p timers; a shared fridge & freezer; a dvd, book & games library; a few essentials for sale like milk; a lovely play area for children; and the hiring of fire pits complete with firewood, kindling & firefighter!

Thank you so much for a brilliant stay!

Disliked: Absolutely nothing!

Liked: We had a lovely stay and were pleasantly surprised by the "extras" for kids that we weren't aware of when booking. There is a lovely park, a giant chess board and animals you can feed. The facilities were all clean and of a high standard. We will see you again soon!

Local attractions

Mwnt’s your nearest beach (and mighty lovely it is too), but it’s far from the only sandy stretch worth a visit locally. Also on your list should be Tresaith (20 minutes’ drive), Aberporth (20 minutes), Poppit Sands (25 minutes) and Llangrannog (half an hour). Should you be seeking a bit of exercise along with your sea views, there’s a golf course 10 minutes’ drive away, or you can head into Aberteifi for all sorts of aquatic activity, including surf lessons, sea kayak tours, serene days of paddleboarding or adrenaline-packed coasteering adventures. If you’ve not managed to spot dolphins from the site, you may have more luck on a boat trip from New Quay (40 minutes). Guaranteed sightings of friendly farm animals are five minutes’ drive away at Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park; they’re even friendlier if you feed them. Seals can often be seen basking on the shore here, too. Away from the coast, it’ll take you 20 minutes or so to drive to 13th-century Cilgerran Castle, the Welsh Wildlife Centre and the National Coracle Centre at Cenarth Falls.
