Campfire by the coast, anyone? Make your way to Mwnt Camping and make it a reality – this rural site is less than a mile from the Ceredigion coast, and it’s a place that encourages guests to make the most of their outdoor time by starting up a campfire (and you can tell they’re serious, as they’ve installed a firepit on each pitch and can sell you logs and kindling…) Come along for a break here and you’ll be staying at a small eco-friendly site that’s all about getting back to nature on meadow pitches in peaceful rural surroundings. Minimal lighting means that dark starry skies can be expected – and you’ll often get spectacular sunsets around here too. It’s all kept nicely peaceful by allowing cars in the parking area only, and not in the pitching areas. The folk here have made efforts to keep the site’s environmental impact to a minimum, but you’ll still have access to plenty of handy facilities including both traditional and compost toilets, hot showers, a washing-up area, charging facilities and a shared fridge and freezer. There’s also a cosy barn where you can hang out if the weather isn’t as friendly as hoped. You’ll share the site with a flock of ducks and chickens, and there is also a pond which is a haven for plants and other wildlife. The chickens lay organic eggs, and the team also grows organic veg that guests can use for salads or barbecue fodder. Any other bits you need can be picked up at the shops in Cardigan (10 minutes’ drive), which also has a collection of places to eat and drink.

Liked: Relaxing and beautiful rural setting with attention to detail features such as homegrown fresh vegetables and eggs available for donation purchase. The barn is also a great touch if the weather is not so welcoming. Facilites are all super clean and the hot showers are 10/10. Very welcoming owners, would definitely recommend 😊

Disliked: That we had to leave, next time we will stay for longer and explore the nearby beach and coastal area

Liked: Dylan & Helen we’re fab hosts of the site. A warm welcome & daily chat made our stay feel like we were part of a community . Gathering around a fire one night with guitar in hand & conversations flowing all added to the friendly, family ambience. A special thank you for kindly caring for us when Storm Betsy came. Adviced to decamp as our bell tent could be damaged & giving us a bed for the night was above & beyond your normal campsite care.😀

Disliked: Probably having a steepish walk up & down to wash our dishes. Got very fit though💪

Liked: We had a great 4 night stay at Mwnt Camping - my friend describing it as the best site we've camped at! Helen and Dylan were very friendly, accommodating hosts and kept us supplied with organic eggs for breakfast and fresh salad leaves, tomatoes and cucumbers for our evening meals. We loved having the personal fire pit and cooked over it (with our own grill) most days. The toilets/showers were kept really well and always seemed clean and well supplied with paper and hand towels. We didn't need to use the Barn - but it was lovely to have a dry space with sofas to retreat to if the weather really turned bad. Access to Mwnt Bay was great (incredibly beautiful!) With Aldi and Tesco just a 10 min drive away you could get what you needed very easily while still feeling "away from it all" at the campsite. It was also lovely to be a small camp site with oodles of space between all the pitches. It will be lovely when the 1,000's of trees they've planted have grown up a little bigger!

Disliked: Hard to think of anything we didn't like.

Local attractions

You’ll want to start (quite possibly immediately upon arrival) with a walk to Mwnt beach, about 20 minutes away on foot. The sandy stretch here is nicely sheltered for swimming, paddleboarding and canoeing – and you can often spot dolphins while you’re sitting on the beach or taking a walk on the Ceredigion Coast Path. If you’d like to up your chances of a close-up audience with the marine mammals, head to New Quay (half an hour’s drive) to join a wildlife-spotting boat trip. For more insights into the local nature, pay a visit to the Welsh Wildlife Centre (20 minutes) – perhaps stopping at Cilgerran Castle (15 minutes) for a sniff of Welsh history at a medieval fortress too. Back to the beach? There are lots more lovely spots to put on your to-visit list around here, including Poppit Sands (15 minutes), Penbryn (20 minutes) and Llangrannog (25 minutes).

Admission

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
The site will send you further check-in information 7 day(s) before your arrival.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 42 day(s) of arrival.
Modifications are subject to a £20.00 fee.

Extras

Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General

Bookings must not be for more than 14 consecutive nights.
