  • Well-kept flat pitches with lovely views over the Dyfi estuary
  • Aberystwyth and Dyfi Bike Park both 20 minutes' drive away
  • Launch kayaks or paddleboards on the river from the site
If lovely scenery and lots of nature all around are on your shopping list for your West Wales camping break, then the setting of Ynyslas Camping should suit you rather well. This chilled-out Ceredigion campsite is in a national nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, with splendid views out over the Dyfi estuary. The estuary, of course, leads down to the coast – and it’s not far away at all, with the dunes of Ynyslas beach just under a mile and a half away (about a half-hour walk or couple of minutes in the car). From there you can pick up the Wales Coast Path to see some more of this gorgeous part of the Welsh coast, do some fishing or just hang out to see what kind of wildlife you can spot (out at sea or in the air perhaps). If you want to get out to sea, well, that’s possible too – there’s boat parking on site, and you can launch or store boats at the village boatyard less than a mile away. If you’re travelling with smaller craft, you can launch kayaks or paddleboards onto the estuary from the site. Staying on land, there are lots of bike trails nearby and the excellent Dyfi Bike Park is about 25 minutes’ drive away. Pitches here are flat and well maintained, with access to fresh water and waste disposal as well as toilets (compost loos and portable toilets). You’re welcome to bring a barbecue to cook meals; pick up the essentials in Borth, a couple of miles away, or bigger Aberystwyth (20 minutes’ drive). The coast, the local villages and the main town all have plenty to offer by way of places to eat out too – not forgetting the option of a Michelin-starred meal 10 minutes’ drive away in Furnace.

This peaceful, remote campsite offers stunning estuary and mountain views, with a short walk to the beach. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful owners and the meticulously clean, basic toilet facilities. Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great simple site with very clean flushing toilets and large washing up sinks. Lovely host who offered me and the kids (2, 5 and 7) sanctuary from the tent when the weather looked bad - in the end we were really lucky and the yellow warning weather held off!

Disliked No sink for face washing or hand washing (although hand gel is provided in toilets).

The washing up area could be improved with a cover/rain shelter.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Peaceful, relaxed, open & spacious site, little stream running through it, and right next to estuary. Lovely views across the valley.
All the birds flying over the site - geese, oystercatchers, red kites
Owners very friendly & helpful - encouraged us to watch the bank holiday fireworks, which were v impressive!
The toilets are very nice & kept v clean. The swallows flitting about overhead were also charming!
Washing up bowls & liquid provided at the sink
You can very easily walk down the bridle path to Ynys Las beach, just over the bridge and walk straight on where road turns sharp left.
It is v simple and exactly as described, (no showers, no bins, no places to charge phones, no wifi, no fridge/freezer or washer/drier facility) but absolutely perfect for people who love a simpler, back to nature camping experience, but with a decent loo!

Disliked Nothing really.
It can be a bit windy there, this is just down to the location itself!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely, peaceful campsite, surrounded by nature, with basic amenities provided. Lovely hosts, who were very friendly and a pleasure to chat to, offering suggestions to make my stay more pleasurable, and also tips about the local wildlife. Approximately 10 minutes walk from Ynyslas nature reserve and beach, and a short stroll from amazing views over the Dovey estuary and the sunset. did not need anything more, and will certainly make a return booking. Thank you
