  • Well-kept flat pitches with lovely views over the Dyfi estuary
  • Aberystwyth and Dyfi Bike Park both 20 minutes' drive away
  • Launch kayaks or paddleboards on the river from the site
If lovely scenery and lots of nature all around are on your shopping list for your West Wales camping break, then the setting of Ynyslas Camping should suit you rather well. This chilled-out Ceredigion campsite is in a national nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, with splendid views out over the Dyfi estuary. The estuary, of course, leads down to the coast – and it’s not far away at all, with the dunes of Ynyslas beach just under a mile and a half away (about a half-hour walk or couple of minutes in the car). From there you can pick up the Wales Coast Path to see some more of this gorgeous part of the Welsh coast, do some fishing or just hang out to see what kind of wildlife you can spot (out at sea or in the air perhaps). If you want to get out to sea, well, that’s possible too – there’s boat parking on site, and you can launch or store boats at the village boatyard less than a mile away. If you’re travelling with smaller craft, you can launch kayaks or paddleboards onto the estuary from the site. Staying on land, there are lots of bike trails nearby and the excellent Dyfi Bike Park is about 25 minutes’ drive away. Pitches here are flat and well maintained, with access to fresh water and waste disposal as well as toilets (compost loos and portable toilets). You’re welcome to bring a barbecue to cook meals; pick up the essentials in Borth, a couple of miles away, or bigger Aberystwyth (20 minutes’ drive). The coast, the local villages and the main town all have plenty to offer by way of places to eat out too – not forgetting the option of a Michelin-starred meal 10 minutes’ drive away in Furnace.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely friendly campsite on a level field (albeit a lot of molehills) with very clean toilets and cold water washing up sinks. This site is in a great location with footpaths to the dunes, beach, estuary and countryside right on the doorstep. We had a lovely three night stay, thank you.

Fantastic little site!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a perfectly situated, peaceful little camp site. A warm welcome from the owners gave it a really personal touch. I was a little concerned whether to book after reading the review about a rowdy bunch of men spoiling other visitors time at the site but I'm so glad I did as you can tell this would have been just a one off.
I have a low sports car so usually have issues taking it off road but the private lane and field are so well maintained with no pot holes or long grass I had no problems at all.
The views from the site are spectacular and it's location to the beach is just a few minutes walk, Borth a few minutes in the car or a thirty minute walk and just twenty minutes to Aberystwyth.
I can't fault this site in anyway, even the mention of trains from other visitors. Unless you go to bed extremely early they will not affect you in the slightest.
The toilet block, described as porta-loos. I'd call them real toilets. Two very clean cubicles with real loo's!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Very remote, lovely views and very friendly owners. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very chilled and polite. The walk to the beach is very easy, stunning views and lovely animals on the way. Toilet facilities were done up well and always clean, very basic but had everything you need a clean toilet paper! There is lots of space to use and camp, we were lucky as there were too many campers so we felt very free and enjoyed our time. There is nothing around so we set our expectations low but it was a lovely set up for us and a real hidden gem. You need to bring everything with you (food, drinks, torches, cleaning products etc) and expect it to be "wild camping" experience rather than supplied campsite.

Disliked Didn't dislike anything but a basic shop would be good but not needed. Grass is a little long but didn't ruin the experience

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Owners were lovely, really helpful (even let us blow up our mattress outside their house because we forgot a pump!) & the campsite was in such a tranquil part of the Dyfi Estuary.
Owners knew lots about the local wildlife etc.
The site & toilets were well maintained & if was a pleasure to stay here & we’ll be back!

Great stopover for 3 nights on a Tour of Wales.
