  • Excellently-kept village site 12 miles from Aberystwyth
  • A few minutes' walk from Devils Bridge Falls
  • In a walking, birdwatching and wildlife haven
Ever been to Devils Bridge Falls? If not, you really should, for they really are devilishly handsome. And a simple few minutes' stroll from the Falls is popular and immaculately-maintained Woodlands Caravan Park: use it as a waterfall pitstop, or as a base for seeing what else is on offer on the Ceredigion coastline and in west Wales (spoiler alert: quite a bit). Woodlands is in the hills in Devils Bridge village, in a walking haven with lots of walks leading directly from the site, and in a well-placed locale for fishing, mountain biking, golfing and birdwatching too (you'll often see a red kite or two soaring overhead). It's a few minutes' walk from the village pub and the Vale of Rheidol steam train, and four miles from the red kite feeding station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian's Forestry Centre. Aberystwyth is 12 miles away and has one of several sandy beaches to visit up and down the Ceredigion coast. The amenities block at Woodlands has very cleanly kept toilets and free showers. Also on site are a shop, tearooms, a laundry room, games room and a play area; a free wifi hotspot is maintained for the use of all guests.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Really nice clean campsite, spotless showers and toilets. Can't fault anything and beautifully quiet! Would definitely stay again

Disliked: The pitch we were on wasn't very level but not terrible and nothing leveling blocks didn't fix.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Idyllic location, quiet, had the amenities we needed which were all kept clean and fresh.
Saw and heard plenty of wildlife. Lovely on site tea room with a cracking full breakfast which we took the benefit of on our final day with a fellow bird to share our toast (see photos).

Even fellow campers were friendly, it's just a site that welcomes well mannered friendly people and their 4 pawed companions.

If you're willing to travel then ... Haffren forest, Aberystwyth, both worth a trip out.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We loved this very pretty and well managed site. There are gorgeous views as you’re nestled in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains, in very peaceful surroundings. There are plenty of super-clean loos and toilets. We really enjoyed watching the sheep being gathered up by the farmer and his dog who came through the camping field while we were there. We had a great breakfast at the cafe and enjoyed a visit to the spectacular Devils Bridge Falls, a short walk from the site. Friendly and welcoming reception staff. We’d stay again if we pass this way and might then take the steam train into Aberystwyth - sadly didn’t have enough time on this occasion.

Disliked: Not a dislike, just a suggestion, but it would be helpful if the dog walking routes and footpaths were more clearly signed on the site, as the map was hard (for me!) to follow.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The location was perfectly located for where we wanted to explore! The campsite is quite big but it’s all in sections so you still felt quite secluded and private ! Lots of walks . Wildlife & farmlife in abundance.
The facilities are amazing 🤩 impeccable for cleanliness . The little tearoom is quaint with a nice old fashioned charm .
Play parks for children and there is a working farm right in the heart of the site ! We were treated to watching the skilled sheepdog herd the sheep from one field to another right through the campsite ! Amazing 🤩 to see !!!
The site is superb and I’m sure we will be back ! A gem !

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Well maintained site. Very nice toilet block, clean and hot showers. Lovely wooded area for dog walking. Cafe on site, didn’t use. Short walk to devils bridge, cafe and ice cream parlour and hotel. Site was very peaceful and it was a treat to watch the red kites. WiFi connection was poor on our pitch but wasn’t an issue for us.

Local attractions

The Devils Bridge Falls and the Three Bridges nature trail walk are only about a quarter of a mile from Woodlands Caravan Park and are – cleverly – the things most guests go for first. The Vale of Rheidol Steam Train and the Hafod Arms Hotel & Bar are both within the same distance away. Four miles away are four top west Wales attractions for all types: the daily red kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forestry Centre; its mountain bike trail; the guided walks and wooded landscape of the Hafod estate; and the Silver Mountain Experience, a day out among the old mines, streams and forests of the Cambrian mountains. The Elan Valley, 15 miles away, is an essential site for Welsh wildlife and is often called the Welsh Lake District: head here for the Elan Valley Reservoirs and the only purpose-built arts and crafts mini village in Wales. Or if you fancy the beach, the sands of Borth beach and the sand dunes of Ynys Las are within 15 and 17 miles. Another beach is at nearby Aberystwyth, along with its famed Constitution Hill, Camera Obscura and cliff railway, and the Magic of Life Butterfly House, with hundreds of butterflies, heaps of giant caterpillars, odd insects and walks (and more waterfalls) in the Rheidol Valley. If the kids like this, take them along too to Fantasy Farm Park, 19 miles away.
