  • Quiet family-friendly campsite 10 minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay
  • Direct access to Wales Coast Path; Cei Bach Beach 10 minutes’ drive
  • Dogs welcome; licensed bistro, farm shop and a play barn on site
Sitting between the seaside towns of Aberaeron and New Quay, Moody Meadows is a family-run site 10 minutes’ drive from spectacular Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion. And not only is it family-run, it’s also very family-friendly, with a whole host of facilities to make life easy on site. These include a farm shop for topping up on supplies, a licensed bistro for those days when you can’t be bothered to spark up the barbecue and a play barn to keep kids safely occupied. The level, tree-lined pitches are all fully serviced with a lawned area for sitting out. Thoughtful additions in the shower block (it has disabled facilities) include hair dryers and a laundrette, and should you be bringing dogs with you, there’s also a dedicated dog wash area for cleaning muddy paws. With easy access off the A487, this quiet site is a convenient base for exploring Ceredigion, its beaches, historic sites and wildlife – watch out for red kites inland and dolphins in Cardigan Bay. A footpath leads from the site to the village of Llwyncelyn (10 minutes’ stroll), and a short walk from there takes you onto the scenic Wales Coast Path… You won’t need a car to explore the area, but a good pair of walking boots is essential.

What customers say

This is an exceptionally clean and well-maintained campsite with spacious pitches and outstanding facilities, including hot tubs. Visitors frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff, the quality of food at the on-site restaurant, and the convenience of the farm shop. While most reviews highlight a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, some mention noise from events or other guests. A few minor issues regarding shower button duration, WiFi connectivity, and occasional maintenance disruptions were noted, but overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (adults only)

Liked Loved the park, lovely holiday vibe. Very clean and kept well. All pitched plenty of room. We stayed on adult pitch, found it nice and quiet. Lovely to have bar and restaurant and farm shop on site. Pleasant walk around the camp site.

Disliked Only dog bin we could find was in dog area. No good if your dog poos before getting to dog area. Men’s and women’s shower heads far too high, not suitable for women. One floor in men’s rising. Sink taps to powerful water going everywhere. Menu in bar not enough choice very basic.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (large)

Liked Good sized hard standing pitch with all services. Bus stop at the park entrance. Farm shop, bistro ans cafe on the site. Pitches with hot tubs also available.

Disliked Stayed over a weekend and there seemed to be an outside function, l presumed, at the bistro. Music was being played with a heavy bass drum beat that was noticeable at a distance. Fortunately, it did stop around 10 pm.

Fully-serviced hardstanding pitch (hot tub)

Liked Overall, a lovely campsite with really friendly neighbours. The food at the café was good and we enjoyed our stay.

Disliked Unfortunately, the bathrooms had a humid, mouldy smell and the drains were covered with hair. This remained the same throughout our stay and did not appear to be addressed.

The grass was also being mown on a lovely sunny day while campers were sitting outside enjoying the weather. The mower came very close to our pitch and caravan, covering the area with cut grass. I suffered a severe hay fever attack and had to ask for our pitch not to be mown. The maintenance worker using the trimmer commented that when the weather is good, they have to get the mowing done. While I appreciate that site maintenance is necessary, I do wonder why this could not be carried out during the week when the site is less busy.

The hot tub was enjoyable, but before our first use I wiped around the area above the waterline and noticed a pink residue on the wipe, which raised some concerns about cleanliness. My sister also woke up with a swollen eye and sticky discharge, requiring a trip to the pharmacy the following day, although this may have been completely unrelated..

Local attractions

Take forays along the Wales Coast Path (direct access from the site), or pack a picnic and march the family down to sand-and-shingle Cei Bach Beach (50 minutes’ stroll/10 minutes’ drive) to see if you can spot dolphins playing in the waves. If the kids catch the wildlife bug, take them to see the birds of prey and butterfly house at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (55 minutes’ drive), where they can also encounter giant animal sculptures on lakeside walks. Learn more about the history of this corner of Ceredigion with a visit to the National Wool Museum (25 minutes), housed in a historic mill packed with original spinning looms; there are entertaining craft workshops for families. Fans of the combustion engine can see 19th-century machines in motion at The Internal Fire Museum of Power (20 minutes), giving an insight into the development of steam power. Staying with the heritage theme, tour the handsome John Nash-designed villa and lakeside gardens at National Trust - Llanerchaeron (10 minutes). If your offspring need an antidote to all that history, the crescent-shaped sandy beach at New Quay (10 minutes’ drive) has rock pools for crabbing and is backed by ice cream stalls and cafés.
