Ashmill Caravan Site: Privicy with lovely trees, throughout the site.

General

  • Well-maintained caravan park a mile from the village of Doune
  • A 10-minute drive from Stirling/the edge of Loch Lomond National Park
  • Well-behaved dogs welcome; heated toilet and shower block

Ashmill Caravan Park is an attractive spot set in the spectacular Stirlingshire countryside. With plenty of space, level, well-kept grass and well-marked pitches, this spot is a mile from the village of Doune and its castle, where there are lots of great local amenities and pleasant walks along the river Teith.

On-site facilities here include a clean and modern toilet block which is fully accessible and benefits from heating to keep you toasty in the chillier months (handy indeed, as this camping and caravan park is open all year round). Well-behaved dogs (on leads, please) are welcome to come and join you.

Another big plus of Ashmill Caravan Park is how close it is to Blair Drummond Safari Park, one of the best zoos in Scotland, which is easily accessible either on foot or by road. There's a wealth of other things to see and do nearby too, including Stirling city centre and its storied castle (10 minutes' drive) and the eastern edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park (also 10 minutes).

Close proximity to the motorway network means that both Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached within an hour.

Peaceful stay, owner very friendly and helpful. We walked to Doune Castle which is the set for Winterfell in Game of Thrones pilot episode and was also used in Monty Python and the Holy Grail along with other films! Plenty of walks through nature and an easy stroll to shops. We were right by the road side and although we could hear it, it didn’t seem to affect our sleep!

  • Liked:

All pitches are tarred with electricity. They are of ample size to accommodate most motor homes and there is a good section of grass between each pitch. Ablution blocks and washing up facilities were spotless and had recently been refurbished.

    Disliked:

View of industrial buildings not so great - hope the trees they have planted to block the view grow quickly.
