  • Wild-style camping at a Perthshire wildlife centre
  • A 15-minute drive to Crieff, Drummond Castle and Loch Earn
  • Guest tickets for unlimited entry to the park, café and play area
Ever fancied bedding down among a menagerie of meerkats, lemurs, goats, pigs, donkeys and a whole lot of other entertaining animals? Well, here’s your chance at Auchingarrich Wildlife Park. Of course, you won’t be actually pitching up in the animal pens – there’s a lovely wild-camping-style paddock set aside for guests, with great views over the ponds and the surrounding Perthshire countryside. You will, however, be able to buy tickets giving you unlimited access to the main wildlife park during the day, so you can pop in and meet the animals whenever you wish, spend some time in the soft play barn or let off some steam at the outdoor play area, the mini golf or the ride-on tractors. The wildlife park has a café that’s open during the day for mains, snacks, hot drinks and sweet treats (along with a kids’ menu and ice creams too), but guests are also welcome to use the campsite’s barbecue area for outdoor meals. Comrie and Crieff are both about 10 minutes’ drive away for supplies if you’re self catering. There’s plenty of space at this site, so kids can run about and families can play games; dogs are welcome too, but will need to be kept under control and on a lead at all times. In keeping with the wild-style vibe you’ll have access to compost toilets but please note there are no showers. You can hire firepits if you’d like to have a campfire evening.

What customers say

Visitors praise the amazing location, friendly and helpful staff, and the unique opportunity to explore the wildlife park after hours. The site is highly recommended for families, with plenty of activities for children. While generally well-maintained, some noted the lack of showers and occasional issues with noise or the compost toilet, though these were outweighed by the positive experiences.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked This is such a magical and happy little place! We booked last minute through pitchup.com and had the best time, we can't wait to come back here camping again!

The site is absolutely gorgeous with stunning views. The animals are fabulous, well looked after and super friendly, especially Benny the border collie! Our children loved having the opportunity to feed the animals and learn lots of interesting facts about them.

The staff were all so friendly and very helpful. We also thoroughly enjoyed the South African Braii BBQ, the food was beautiful and the chef happily cooked the meats to our liking!

The campsite is spacious and very close to the wildlife park, which we had access to the whole time we were there! It really is a special and unique experience not to mention excellent bang for your buck!

There is a small compost toilet on the campsite, however we never had to use it as the toilets in the main park remain opened all night and are only a short walk from the campsite!

This place far exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend it! Our only regret is that we only booked one night! We will be 100% be back!

Thank you Auchingarrich Wildlife Park!

Disliked Absolutely nothing!

Auchintochen bell tent

Liked We were due to stay in the Bell tent but unfortunately due to the storm we had to rearrange to the Tuesday. CJ called early morning to say there had been damage to bell tent so unfortunately we couldn't stay. Completely out of the parks hands but they were fantastic and allowed us to come to the park for the day and a full refund was given
CJ was so kind and looked after us, we will definitely be back to stay in the bell tent.

We did the tractor ride, the gentleman that took us was amazing, so friendly, knowledgeable and allowed my son to sit on the tractor which made his day.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked Great location and very unique experience to be able to stay within a wildlife park. Like that you can park by your tent. We were staying when storm floris hit but the site is quite sheltered by lots of surrounding trees and other than a few big gusts of wind and a minor tear in out tent it was fine.
Staff in the park are friendly and helpful. The tea room is nice and reasonably priced and has free WiFi.
We stayed for 5 nights and found it was a good base to visit the surrounding area.

Disliked Can be quite noisy with children and dogs but that's the visitors fault and no reflection on the site owners, although maybe someone could do a walk round every evening just to keep an eye on excess noise.

Liked Amazing location, such friendly staff and fantastic to be able to walk around the animals once the park had shut!

Disliked A water tap on the campsite would have been great and could get very noisy with groups with music until late.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked Amazing location, we loved the fact we can just wonder about the park after its been closed, when it was all quiet. Definitely worth visiting!
The only downside is the lack of showers, but dirty kids are happy kids.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked Highly recommend for families! First time visiting Auchingarrich - couldn’t believe the variety of animals. Amazing views from the park and the campsite. Loved seeing some of the animals roaming freely, we had the white peacock and the owners dog sat with us for ages at our tent 😄 Also great being able to wander around the park after hours - we were out until after 11pm with our 3 year old and had the best time. Such a beautiful location, all staff SO friendly and approachable and soooo much to do and see. Brilliant value for money, well stocked gift shop and everything clean and tidy. Compost toilet was clean but you can access proper toilets at any time too in the main building. Map and info pack provided on arrival. We would definitely come back and have recommended to friends and family.

Disliked NOTHING. 😊

Local attractions

Once you've met the animals on site, how about taking off to see some native wildlife? The big birds might be the main attraction at Argaty Red Kites (35 minutes’ drive), but you can also spot things like roe deer and red squirrels as well as seeing what you can see from the bird hides. Some time exploring the scenery should be on the cards too – perhaps a waterside stroll at Loch Earn (15 minutes’ drive, and also home to a good watersports centre), a woodland wander to reach Doune Castle (half an hour) or a steep climb up Callander Crags (45 minutes). Drummond Castle Gardens (15 minutes) is also a good spot for green-fingered types. If the kids are in the mood for more activity, take them along to Action Glen (15 minutes) for days of quad biking, segway riding and scrambling along treetop trails. And if you’ve not got the kids? Well, there’s always the Glenturret Distillery (15 minutes)…
