Geodesic dome (hot tub, pet friendly)

Liked: The campers kitchen and lounge was a welcome addition to make the holiday more stress free. The accommodation was well maintained and we had no problems with anything. We had a log burner, outside firepit and hot tub which worked really well. The logs, and fire starters were a welcome addition to get us started! The location was just stunning and was great for activities, mountains less than 10 minutes away for hiking and the loch for kayaking. The bathroom was well maintained. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. Even when we had a problem with our dog escaping they were just superb raising the alarm and helping to look. We found him very quickly luckily. Their consitently helpful and friendly customer service was just so delightful and refreshing. This is a beautiful place, excellent facilities and great value for money. I would highly recommend for a stay. We are planning to look at a stay in the winter too!

Disliked: I think it would have been better to have some more bins for dog waste and some initial instructions/ tips on how to get the hot tub up and running.

Camping pod (pet friendly, secluded)

Liked: Good shared facilities including access to a kitchen. The whole site was lovely and felt peaceful.

Disliked: The camping hut was tired and shabby. It had various broken elements - a cracked window, no door on the freezer and a big bit missing from the floor. It was also not as clean as I would have liked with lots of dirt and spiderwebs around the windows and an old disposable bbq left outside. The shared spaces were cleaned but not to the highest of standards. The wifi was expensive.

From the manager: Hi Ruth, Thank you for your review. Apologies if you did not enjoy your stay on site. Had we known you had issues in the pod we would have had these rectified for you. We would love to offer the Wifi for free but we are off grid in terms of broadband providers and therefore have had to use Mobile Wifi, which leaves the system constrained by the amount of data we can use, we must therefore restrict it by time.

Geodesic dome (pet friendly)

Liked: The location and the value for money are great at this place. We stayed in one of the Geo Domes and they are great. Views here are lovely. Lots of wildlife about. Facilities plentiful and clean. Particularly enjoyed having the campers kitchen 👍🏼 very useful in strong winds!

Disliked: Absolute bargain for £50 a night but could have done with a better clean in our dome. Could tell a quick clean had been done but was definitely due a deep clean. Also no recycling for cardboard and tins. As people who want to do our bit for the environment, it's disheartening to see such a lovely site without recycling bins.

From the manager: Hi Raiden, Thank you for your review. I am happy to hear you enjoyed our site. I will make our cleaning team aware of your comments. We are very pro active when it comes to the environment. We have a contract with our refuse collection team that recycling is done at their depot. Hope to see you again.

Geodesic dome (pet friendly)

Liked: Beautiful and peaceful site located in a stunning part of Scotland. The site caters for all price ranges with small campings pods to lodges and houses. Lots of activities to do on site and the Boathouse bar and kitchen is a lovely place to relax with a drink as well is offering delicious meals. The site doesn’t feel overcrowded and the staff and really friendly and helpful. The amenities are perfect for those who are in accommodation without toilet or cooking facilities in there unit and were kept clean and tidy.

Disliked: We stayed in a dome tent which had no toilet or cooking facilities. We took our own camping stove which was ideal for us but I did feel that the toilet facilities were a little bit too far from the dome tents themselves. Only a few minutes walk but as we stayed in a particularly cold April, those late night and early morning toilet runs especially with a little one were a challenge. Would be good to have a couple of toilets only on our side of the site.

Local attractions

The best things in life are free… Perthshire has visitors flocking to it from all over the world to soak up its spectacular scenery and wildlife, climb the peaks or ramble over its landscape. The scenic village of Killin and the Falls of Dochart are a short drive away from Loch Tay, or wander westwards to see the lochside village of Kenmore with Scotland’s oldest pub, or to pick up some worthy memories of your trip at Dewar’s World of Whisky in Aberfeldy. For somewhat more recent history, a trip to Castle Menzies where Prince Charlie rested on his way to Culloden in 1746 should be a Bonnie day out, as should the 18th-century Blair Atholl Castle with its gardens, adventure playground and sculpture trail. Perthshire has the River Tay as well as the loch: canter around the county for river fishing, walking and cycling the Tay Forest trails and the Ochil Hills, and the National Trust of Scotland site the Pass of Killicrankie with its river gorge, ancient woodlands and the first purpose-built countryside visitor centre in Scotland.
