What customers say

This is a quiet, peaceful campsite in a beautiful glen, ideal for walks and visiting the local distillery. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are generally reported as clean and well-maintained, with hot water. Some visitors found the facilities basic and noted the need for 20p coins for showers. Limited local walks with animals were mentioned, and a few found the site exposed in high winds.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great simple pitch. Cheap, quiet even in mid august. Toilets and shower do the job. Good flat pitches.

Disliked Not much about unless by car (no suprise though that's part of the fun!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked You know you have great campsite when the first thing you see in the morning is a golden eagle! This is a basic site, with bare minimum of facilities, yet it works well for a spot to rest your head in between active days out in the area. Good value for money.

Disliked The facilities could benefit from a little more attention.
1 - There was a sign asking users to use mop and bucket to clean up after showers, (not an unusual request at campsites) but in this case there was no mop and bucket provided.
2 - The lock on the men's toilet door did not work.
3 - The towel put out to dry hands was dirty - not sure how often it is cleaned/replaced
4 - There were 2 showers but opened out into a shared changing area.
5 - The clothes rack for hanging clothes whilst showering was 50% broken (only 2 out of the 4 hooks were useable).
6 - The wheely bins around the back of the facilities block were over flowing and needed to be put out on an appropriate day for council collection.
7 - Wifi was difficult to get. Even going into the toilet block (and presumably closer to the router) gave mixed results.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Nice and relaxing, very flexible emailed by owners straight away with all details. Got all the facilities you need for a campsite.

Disliked Could do with some maintenance, i.e. sort dripping taps and locks on cubicle doors.
The morning we left there was tree surgeons attending to the woods behind which made it noisy which helped us ack up quicker

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Wonderful lonely place. We shared the site with 3 other tents. The yearly event 'Tea in the Park's happened at the same time and it was a wonderful place to meet the local community.
Facilities were simple but clean. Free Wifi was fast.
Glenlivet Distillery is about 1.3m away.
Thai restaurant 5min away is recommended.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Very quiet
The toilet facilities are adequate

Disliked Very expensive considering it is just a parking place
No electricity hook up
Very boggy when wet
It’s a football pitch not a campsite
Paying extra for a shower the pitch was already over priced

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Very quiet campsite, nicely situated for access to distilleries, lovely walks and towns.

Disliked 20p for the shower, I am pretty cashfree these days so trying to get cash for the shower was a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, I was able to obtain some else that wasn't entirely ideal.

Also for those bringing animals, as this backs onto a farm, it is a little limited for local walks, but a short drive offers up options.

Local attractions

So, whisky drinkers, you have the choice of several distilleries to tour. Start at The Glenlivet (five minutes’ drive), famed for its single malt, and then head for Ballindalloch (10 minutes) for more touring and tasting. Other options for aficionados of the “water of life” include Aberlour (20 minutes) and The Cairn Distillery (half an hour). If you’d rather get your hiking boots on, the long-distance Speyside Way passes the site, and there are lots of walking routes on Glenlivet Estate (direct access); please see the visitor information at the front of the Public Hall. The estate also offers up a number of mountain bike tracks with cross country and free ride trails. For more gentle pursuits, there is a golf course at Ballindalloch Castle and Gardens, where fishing is offered in season. The Cairngorms National Park (five minutes) also has its share of outdoor activities, from climbing to gorge walking, and it’s also the foremost Dark Skies Park in Scotland; on clear nights you won’t even need binoculars to pick out the planets and constellations glittering in the inky-black heavens.
