  • Luxury ensuite camping pods on a working croft
  • Spectacular location overlooking Loch Shin and Ben More Assynt
  • Communal firepit, wood for sale and disposable barbecues to buy

Loch Shin Wigwams in Shinness, Lairg has glamping accommodation in a spectacular location, overlooking Loch Shin in one direction and Ben More Assynt in the other. It's 90 miles from John O'Groats and 54 miles from Inverness.

Central to three coastlines, it's easy to reach the far north or Flow Country from here, with plenty of lochs for anglers and bens for hill walkers. The area is home to red deer, pine martens, golden eagles and the Scottish wildcat among other birds of prey and wildlife. The site is on a working croft, which breeds Cheviot sheep: in the springtime you may find lambs around, grazing nearby.

At certain times of the year, you might be able to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). The site is also excellent for stargazing, as well as watching the spectacular sunrises and sunsets in the winter months. The summertime sees lovely long days with very short nights.

Firewood is available on site for use in the firepit (only wood purchased from the site to be used in the firepits, please). There are also disposable barbecues to purchase and campfire tripods to hire.

The site was so peaceful and quiet. Our pod was so cosy, we would have stayed longer if we could. Loved the farm land around the site. Perfect for watching the gorgeous sunset and star gazing.
