General

  • Only three miles from Invermoriston
  • Relaxing location between mountains and trees
  • Modern facilities and full comfort

is pronounced 'Inver Coya': ‘Coya’ means forest in Scottish Gaelic.

We are a family-run campsite enclosed in its own surrounding natural woodland with beautiful mountain views from most areas of the site. The woodland has direct access to the Great Glen Way forestry commission path and its stunning views over the loch in both directions: have a short evening stroll to the viewpoints photographed or a good long hike.

The site has a shared facilities block withs a washing up area, drinking water supply and shower rooms. Water is filtered from the burn which runs beside us on site. We have the ‘Highlands smallest on-site shop’ stocking everyday items, and we sell logs and firelighting kits for the campfire area too.

We have car parking spaces and ask that all customers park their cars here once they have offloaded; if you need assistance then please ask as we are more than happy to help. Our new reception area has tourist information and we have a good knowledge of the local area so feel free to ask us for tips on what to see and do. We now also offer charging of electrical items in exchange for a donation into our charity tins.

Our location is a perfect family base for exploring the Highlands. We make for a great resting place for walkers or cyclists' but above all else a chance to really get away from everyday life, so whether you decide to stay here for one night or more we will do our utmost to make you feel welcome and make your stay here a memorable one.

We welcome all dogs that come to stay.. We have three dogs of our own as well as our newest team member, a very shy cat.

    • Quiet camp site with beautiful views.
    • Great position for The Glen Way and for hiking in general, surrounded by many mountains.
    • About 50 minutes away from Inverness (where we had to run to, so we could collect a small humans prescription) and there are a lot of shops there! Including a Tesco extra and Boots.
    • Also about an hour if that away from Fort William so it's a great place to stay if you plan on conquering Ben Nevis.
    • Wee shop on site is a great idea, although we weren't around to use it.
    • You are also able to charge your devices at certain times, which is great. Not many sites offer that.
    • Bathrooms were nice and clean, the hairdryer was an added bonus!
    • The Timber Tent was adorable! Loved the hot water bottles and literally everything was supplied! PS the biscuits were a lovely little touch!

    Disliked:

    • During our stay a large group of scouts arrived (which is to be expected and we were warned the morning before their arrival) and this caused a few little problems in terms of using the facilities. We really wanted a shower because we had hiked all day up The Ben and we couldn't have one until very late in the evening. I actually didn't bother (other half did and he said it wasn't the warmest - but that could just be him being a wuss haha) and had one very early the next morning because I'm an early bird. We also couldn't use the washing up facilities until very late in the evening. But this is no fault to the site it's just courtesy of other campers. I just washed up the items outside the tent which I have done many times before anyway.
So maybe a couple of showers added at a later date? Or maybe one provided privately for the guests in the Timber Tent like the Geodomes because you are paying more than a standard pitch (obviously am aware we are paying for the accommodation too ahah) I actually would have booked a dome this time but couldn't get one so I will next year just for the private bathroom.
    • Midges...that's the norm in the highlands and it's to be expected. Just be prepared and it won't be an issue.

The campsite is very nice, proper facilities and kind staff. The view from it is magnificent, plus the fresh air and sounds of nature around are unforgettable.

    Disliked:

Zillions of midges, tried to devour us alive in the morning.

From the manager...

Many thanks for your review, we are all really glad that you enjoyed your stay and the views from the campsite. The midges are a nuisance that are unfortunately along the West coast of Scotland at the time that you stayed. They are prevalent for a while in the mornings and in the evenings and very much dependent on certain weather conditions. Hope you come and stay again sometime in the future.

Bell Tent is a dream to stay in! 19/06/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Richard M. Mobile phone icon Confirmed

  • Bell tent (adults only)
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

We stayed in the Bell Tent and it was a wonderful location. It was a nice touch that there were hot water bottles provided as it meant the double bed was suitable warmed when it was bed time.
The Bell Tent comes with a covered seating area which means you can still enjoy the outdoors while eating dinner even if it is a bit wet. The staff were very friendly and welcoming once we arrived at the site.
As far as Campsite facilities go, the ones at Invercoille were splendid, well maintained with a good temperature and pressure in the showers. You could rent board games for a refundable fee of £5 to make sure that the travellers are never themselves bored.

    Disliked:

The midges!! I am aware that you are very lucky if you avoid the midge in Scotland but we were eaten alive. Bring midge repellent by its gallon load as they will feast upon you. Carparking is limited too but this is not a major issue unless you are booking the site and travelling either as part of a circus or as a member of a nomadic commune.

From the manager...

Many thanks for your lovely review, we are all really glad that you enjoyed the Bell Tent and our site. It's nice to know that the showers were good and that you enjoyed the facilities that we out a lot of thought, time and care into to provide for our customers. The midges are a nuisance and are a part of the west coast of Scotland. There are certain times that they are around early morning and early evening mostly and are only present in certain weather conditions. It's disappointing we can't accommodate the circus anytime soon, but at least we can be sure that by not having a circus we can have a quiet site for others to enjoy. Kind Regards, Rosemary

A great way to camp. 14/06/2017

Location was beautiful and very convenient for a hiker. The Belle tent was lovely and well appointed. The showers and toilets were clean. The hosts were kind and helpful.

    Disliked:

I wish the shower wasn't a preset push-on that times out.

From the manager...

Thank you or your feedback, we use push on showers to minimise water usage as we are on a private water supply that comes from the burn that runs along side the campsite, this then gets filtered by the UV filter system, having these showers means people only use the water they really need.
Kind regards

The owners of the site are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful, toilets are kept very clean and showers are luxurious in comparison to other sites we have stayed they are very spacious to allow room to dry off and change, a very quiet site with enough room to have a peaceful break without being overcrowding, loved the smallest shop in the highlands brilliant idea for all the little essentials. Absolutely cannot find fault with this site and would recommend it to everyone we had a lovely week here and would definately stay again if we are in the area.
