Local attractions

Cressfield Hotel Next to the camp site is the Cressfield Hotel that has direct access to and from Cressfield Park. It has a bar and restaurant serving meals seven days a week Burnswalk Hill A striking flat topped hill, one of the best views in the area. A short car ride followed by a sharp climb to views over southern Scotland and Cumbria. As the site of a Roman encampment and an Iron Age fort it offers not only a pleasant climb but an insight into the ancient history of the area. Browmoor Hill For the less adventurous there is Brownmoor Hill, accessible from the site. A fairly easy round the hill walk has magnificent views from the far side to the Cumbrian hills looking over the Solway Firth. The Annadale Way Passing not far from Cressfield Park, at Hoddom Bridge, the Annandale Way is a new 55 mile long distance walking route linking the towns of Moffat and Annan that can be walked either way. It's been developed by Sulwath Connections and local communities with the support of local estates and farmers to help promote Annandale as a new area for walking. Caerlaverock Castle, Dumfries & Galloway Caerlaverock Castle is a moated triangular castle first built in the 13th century. It is located on the southern coast of Scotland, 11 kilometres south of Dumfries, on the edge of the Caerlaverock National Nature reserve. There is a cafe and gift shop on site.
