  • Small, well-maintained touring site in the Ochil hills
  • Stirling Castle and The Kelpies within a half-hour drive
  • Stopover point for North Coast 500 and Heart 200 routes
Want to cram in several different Scottish experiences all from one location? Highland Gateway Glamping and Caravanning is in a strategic Clackmannanshire spot between Clackmannan and Kincardine (about five minutes’ drive from both) and within easy reach of all sorts of things to do and places to go. Glasgow, Stirling and the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park can all be on your schedule during a stay here: all are within a 40-minute drive. The centre of Edinburgh, meanwhile, can be reached in less than an hour. Golfers have a choice of three courses to play on nearby, plus the option of Gleneagles (40 minutes away). There are also loads of great options around for walking and cycling: it’s a 20-minute walk or five-minute bike ride to the start of the Fife Coastal Path, and the National Cycle Network route 76 passes just by the site’s driveway. You can also head out into the Ochil hills, just around the park, for a walk or a day of cycling – although there are some great views on site too for those who fancy taking in the scenery over a barbecue instead. All-weather pitches here are fully serviced and have access to a picnic area, a black water and grey water disposal point, heated toilet and shower facilities and a washing-up point. If you’re planning a longer tour of Scotland, it may be handy to know that this site is well located for the Heart 200 route and the North Coast 500.

Liked: A very welcoming stay, Lynn is a great host to her farm. Pre-arrival information made easy and very clear directions. Lynn greeted us to ensure everything was okay. Small ablution block was clean, warm and hot water for that much needed shower. Great for an overnight stop to the Highlands. Very peaceful and calm. Would highly recommend.

Liked: Smallish campsite in a quiet location. Good sized pitches with plenty of space between them. Heated cabins for the toilet and showers that were very clean. Friendly and helpful owners. There's a track that runs past the campsite that you can dog walk along. There's other walks and sites near by, also just a short drive to Stirling. Handy stop over point for our journey up to the Cairngorms.

Liked: Really great facilities - very clean and well maintained. Everything is signposted for ease of use. Lynn was great too - welcoming and also always visible, but never overstepping. I saw her help a few people around the camp site and also when our MH wouldn’t start - her husband came and jumped the engine for us. We had a lovely walk into nearest village with beautiful backdrop of snowy hills. Our dogs loved it too. Has solid Wi-Fi too!

Liked: Quiet site located in semi rural settings with great countryside views. All the normal expected facilities and great WiFi. Small site with 6 pitches and 2 glamping pods...perfect for a quiet get away. Campsite is emaculate and power and water hookups are in great condition and clearly labelled as are the pitches. Excellent pre stay emails explaining everything you need to know.

Liked: lovely location, very clean and tidy.

Disliked: site very dark, actually fell over a couple of times due to darkness, Take a torch. the shower shack needs updating, very cold and water on walls and roof which was dripping. next morning found although shower and toilet at bottom park of site. no dog walking/dog run available. to empty toilet a long walk from where you have to park, difficult when heavy.

From the manager: Glad you liked the location, we do have a walking "right of way" just at the campsite entrance which is excellent for dog walking and goes for miles. This is a tiny site with only 6 pitches, the black waste disposal is at one end of the site so not far from any pitches, it would be easy enough to drive the motorhome to it saving any carrying. The campsite is lit by solar lights and automatic floodlights but it is the countryside and there will be dark parts. There is another shower available which is clearly marked on the campsite map. There is always someone available by mobile number for any queries if no one can be seen on site, this is also mentioned in signs on site.

Beautiful small site, away from it all.

Liked: Lovely little site, so clean and pretty. Because the site it small it's very quiet which is nice. The site owner comes and greets you, even very late at night when it's raining. Very friendly and warm welcome, helpful with local information. Great communication pre arrival via email informing us of our pitch number and contact information should we need it. We would definitely stay here again in future.

Route directions

The postcode takes you about 400 metres from the driveway. If coming from Kincardine, as you pass over the motorway in the distance you can see a farm on the left and cottages on the right. Immediately at the end of the cottages, turn right – this takes you to the campsite. If you are coming from Clackmannan, pass the postcode position and drive for another 400 metres – just before the cottages on the left, turn left for the campsite.

Local attractions

Your main issue around here (and it’s a good problem to have…) will be deciding what to do first. Perhaps it’ll be a trip to Glasgow (35 minutes’ drive) to stroll through the West End, visit Glasgow Science Centre or admire the artwork at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum? Or maybe city life on a slightly smaller scale in Stirling (25 minutes), where you can visit the castle and National Wallace Monument? Sticking to the open air you may like to view the huge outdoor artwork known as The Kelpies (20 minutes) or marvel at the Falkirk Wheel (25 minutes), Scotland’s only rotating boat lift. There’s also the option of a good walk or bike ride in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park (40 minutes) or following in the footsteps of the world’s best golfers at Gleneagles (40 minutes). Want to view some animals while you’re out and about? Stop by at Briarlands Farm for a family-friendly farm day, or seek out something more exotic at Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park; both are about half an hour away.
