Pod with private parking

  • Family holiday park with spectacular Loch Lomond views at Ardlui
  • Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park access from the pitches
  • Bar, restaurant and entertainment throughout the year at Ardlui Hotel
Up at the northernmost tip of Loch Lomond, Ardlui Holiday Home Park is a small site with a range of accommodation, all overlooking the water. That’s right – the park has a fabulous location in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, making it easy for walkers, cyclists, photographers and wildlife watchers alike to get out on the hills directly from the pitches, or to get down to the loch for watersports and fishing. This site is also a handy overnighter for anyone ‘doing’ the West Highland Way, which runs along the east side of the loch between Fort William and Milngavie. The walking route is accessed via a ferry from Ardlui Marina, which is only five minutes’ walk away. Kids and dogs are welcome at this friendly site, and there are plenty of facilities to make life comfortable and convenient for all guests – you'll have the use of a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with toilets and showers. The Ardlui Hotel is a few steps away too, serving homemade food in the cosy restaurant and a plethora of whiskies – just what you need as a pick-me-up after a day out in the bracing Scottish air – and beers in the welcoming pub. In the pub, you’re welcome to play pool, fire up the jukebox or warm up by the log stove in the winter. There are also lively entertainment nights throughout the year in the hotel.

What customers say

This campsite boasts stunning Loch Lomond views and a prime waterside location, with many praising the friendly and helpful staff. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are frequently described as clean and modern. The on-site pub is a popular amenity. However, some visitors experienced issues with pitch quality, feeling they were in car park areas, and reported noise from other guests and jet skis. Limited dog walking paths and occasional problems with water supply were also mentioned.

Fully-serviced gravel and sand touring pitch

Liked The view
Toilets were clean

Disliked VERY noisy seasonal pitches- noise did not stop till 3am. These people seemed to do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. Jet skis out at 10pm. Tents pitched on the grass (despite the site rules saying no tents).
Constant comings and goings all day and all night in various vehicles/modes of transport (eg. Rangers x 2, electric scooters, 4x4s, jet skis)
noisy owners from chalets playing loud music into the small hours.

Preschool child from the marina house left to roam alone. Had a very fast metal motor buggy and no helmet! Could have crashed into anyones car or caravan and parents would never have known. Accompanying dog also roaming. Since he was playing with our children we felt somewhat responsible.

Ok for 1 night stop over.

Dog poo on grass.

Camping pod (large)

Liked Handy location to break up a long train journey.

Disliked Incredibly over priced, with no bedding provided, and uncomfortable mattresses. There were signs up to say the water needed to be boiled for drinking yet no kettle was provided. I asked the hotel if they would fill my water bottles and the ladies on duty refused. At £100 a night I’m still shocked to be refused water to drink.

Camping pod

Liked Location nice views

Disliked Place was an absolute dump.
Really run down and dirty.
No shop but still advertising as having one.
No water the second night as it was unsafe to use apparently and you had made you buy it from the hotel bar for your tea/coffee.
No walks from site you were stuck there.
The pod was basically like a shed with no view.
Shower room was disgusting a urinal next to the shower separated by just a curtain and all on the same floor 🤢

Fully-serviced gravel and sand touring pitch

Liked The staff that I met were nice, the view was lively

Disliked As I arrived a little bit earlier than than check in time I had to wait for half an hour for the warden to appear, the site pitches on the top row is basically a car park, and the pitches on the Loch side have been taken up by long stay caravans there was only 3 for guests to use, the site was full most days but only one to two day stays I was there for 6 nights but only stayed 3 and left early

Fully-serviced gravel and sand touring pitch

Liked We arrived at 4.30 and parked on what we thought was the car park to check in only to be told it was our pitch!
There was nothing to like about a hard gravel parking space which wasn’t safe for dogs to be out or put awning up.
We complained to the owner and decided not to stay as it was awful

Disliked Attitude of staff. We booked in May and no one understood why we expected a nice pitch. We were told first come first served
State of pitch was awful.
Not safe for the dogs

Local attractions

There’s a lot to get stuck into within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park if you’re a keen hiker, climber or cyclist. If you’d rather take a scenic drive, the Rest and Be Thankful Viewpoint (half an hour’s drive) is a fine spot to pull over. There are also boat cruises on Loch Lomond (35 minutes) for explorations that don’t require much walking. Can’t relate? Don’t worry, just don a pair of hiking boots (or skis if it’s winter) and set about the Glencoe (40 minutes) slopes. Queen Elizabeth Forest Park (an hour) is also a handy spot for a good ramble or some biking. There’s also the stunning hike at Ben A'an (an hour and 10 minutes) for views over Loch Katrine and Loch Achray. Ben More (20 minutes) is a slightly more local spot, and a challenging climb if you really want to get the blood pumping. While you're here, you may fancy checking out some of the nearby castles. Dumbarton Castle (40 minutes) is a striking one set on a volcanic rock overlooking the sea. Inveraray Castle (50 minutes) on the shore of Loch Fyne is also spectacular, with huge gardens, a tearoom and castle room tours.
