This is a well-maintained and friendly campsite, praised for its clean facilities, spacious pitches, and excellent location near a beach. Staff are frequently highlighted as helpful and welcoming. Many visitors enjoyed the on-site amenities such as play areas and BBQ facilities, and appreciated the cleanliness of the new shower and toilet blocks. Some reviews mention building work or dated facilities in certain areas, and a few noted pitches on slopes or exposure to wind. Overall, it's a highly recommended site for a relaxing stay.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked Excellent facilities
Our gas failed so the electric kettle and toaster in the laundry kitchen were a massive help thank you !!!

Disliked A floor drain for a motor home instead of the grey waste bin would have been nice .
Longer manned reception hours would be better

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked The site was immaculate even though it appeared work to extend the site was ongoing . Facilities ( new block) were good really spacious shower , powerful and hot and all kept very clean as were the communal kitchen facilities . Enclosed dog run was great as was forest walk direct from site . Further afield the cliff walk to St Cyrus beach was stunning but was just under 7 miles total.

Disliked Our pitch (1) was in between two statics that had hot tubs , we had to keep our van blinds shut down one side or you felt like you were staring into the people next to you in their hot tub , the hot tub motor and the music played and conversations had by those in the hot tub could not be ignored either as well as the stench of weed each time the young man stepped outside .
As said in site information and reviews pre-booking it was a lovely walk into St Cyrus but there is no longer a hotel/pub to visit there ( indefinitely closed) and the site does not have a shop . It cost us £46 for the two of us to go to Stonehaven and back on bus from St Cyrus when we chose to leave the van on site .
The site felt like a residential complex with touring pitches added on but mainly focused on statics , never met a member of staff other than saying hello to cleaner and a man cutting grass

Local attractions

St Cyrus National Nature Reserve (15 minutes’ walk) is a smashing spot for (hopefully) spotting skylarks and rare peregrine falcons, paddling in the North Sea and following trails through ever-shifting sand dunes. If you’re keen to see more birds, it’s a short hop to the Montrose Basin Visitor Centre (15 minutes’ drive) for the chance to spy pink-footed geese and kingfishers; there’s another sandy beach close by for summer swims. If the kids are not keen on getting in the sea, there’s an outdoor pool at Stonehaven (25 minutes), and if the weather turns bad, there’s a century’s worth of planes to be seen in hangars at Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre (10 minutes). Wait until the skies are clear before you visit legendary Dunnottar Castle (20 minutes), as its dramatic setting high on sea cliffs means it closes when it’s windy. An alternative is the 18th-century House of Dun (15 minutes), where you can learn about local life in the folk museum and tour ornate rooms and formal gardens. And Fettercairn Distillery (20 minutes) is open for tours and tasting, so you can pick up single malt as a Scottish souvenir.
