  • Motorhome pitches at an Angus farm five minutes' drive from Kirriemuir
  • A five-minute drive to Glamis Castle; half an hour to Dundee
  • Dogs and kids welcome; chemical disposal point on site
For a small town, Kirriemuir has an awful lot going for it… This Angus location is often known as the ‘Gateway to the Glens’ – and it’s also a ‘fairytale town’, as it’s the birthplace of Peter Pan creator JM Barrie (now commemorated in several ways around the town, including a museum and a park). On top of all that it’s the home of a traditional music festival, and also has interest for metal fans, who head here to see the life-sized bronze statue of AC/DC frontman Bon Scott. With horse riding, golf and birdwatching on the menu too (along with plenty of places to shop and eat), it makes an excellent base for a break full of variety. About five minutes’ drive from the centre of town is Knocknahushoch Farm, a quiet rural spot that’s got just a handful of motorhome pitches where guests can park up and relax in peaceful surroundings. It’s a simple setup here in terms of facilities – there’s a chemical disposal point but please note you’ll need to be self sufficient for toilet and shower facilities. Dogs and kids are welcome on site, and there should be plenty of space for everyone to stretch their legs on the grass area by the hardstanding pitches. Once you've explored Kirriemuir, there's plenty more to do nearby – perhaps walks in the Angus Glens, an outing to Glamis Castle or a day trip to the various museums and galleries of Dundee (half an hour's drive away).

The Shed electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Received a phone call from Gail, apologising as neither she nor Richard would be there when I arrived and talking me through where I would find all the facilities, including the supplied hook up cable, meaning I didn't have to unravel mine (a job I detest), so full marks for that. Pitch is on very clean, level concrete, set in peaceful countryside location. Met Richard, lovely, friendly, chatty guy. I have a very nervous, rescued, one eyed toy poodle and the grass airstrip at the back of the farm was ideal for her to chase her ball safely. Definitely be back and great value for money. Ps. I got lost as couldn't find it on Google maps (I don't have satnav in van), so phoned Gail and got instructions on finding the site. After telling her about not being able to find farm on google maps (defo not their fault, imho) their plan will be to use 3 words to help peeps find it. Can't ask better than that.
