  • Motorhome pitches at an Angus farm five minutes' drive from Kirriemuir
  • A five-minute drive to Glamis Castle; half an hour to Dundee
  • Dogs and kids welcome; chemical disposal point on site
For a small town, Kirriemuir has an awful lot going for it… This Angus location is often known as the ‘Gateway to the Glens’ – and it’s also a ‘fairytale town’, as it’s the birthplace of Peter Pan creator JM Barrie (now commemorated in several ways around the town, including a museum and a park). On top of all that it’s the home of a traditional music festival, and also has interest for metal fans, who head here to see the life-sized bronze statue of AC/DC frontman Bon Scott. With horse riding, golf and birdwatching on the menu too (along with plenty of places to shop and eat), it makes an excellent base for a break full of variety. About five minutes’ drive from the centre of town is Knocknahushoch Farm, a quiet rural spot that’s got just a handful of motorhome pitches where guests can park up and relax in peaceful surroundings. It’s a simple setup here in terms of facilities – there’s a chemical disposal point but please note you’ll need to be self sufficient for toilet and shower facilities. Dogs and kids are welcome on site, and there should be plenty of space for everyone to stretch their legs on the grass area by the hardstanding pitches. Once you've explored Kirriemuir, there's plenty more to do nearby – perhaps walks in the Angus Glens, an outing to Glamis Castle or a day trip to the various museums and galleries of Dundee (half an hour's drive away).

Liked It all felt very quiet and safe.
Plenty of green space with lovely views of the skyline.
After a peaceful night, awoke to the sound of high flying skylarks and yellowhammers being busy.
Given excellent instructions about the site facilities. Good value.

The Shed electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Loads of room to park up on a level hardstanding, with EHU, CDP, grey waste and fresh water available. Friendly Gail met us with a smile even though we were a lot earlier than our estimate. We loved being able to walk the dogs on the grassy air strip.

The Shed electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Really peaceful caravan site on a farm. Air strip at the back which was perfect for walking my dog.
Local shop/post office in walking distance, and bigger shops a short drive.

EHU points, Chemical waste disposal, and drinking water points. Stayed for around three weeks in Nov/Dec.

No toilets or shower, but that is stated clearly, and didn’t bother me as I have a touring caravan.

£10 p/n without EHU, or £7 extra for Electric.

The family were great hosts, even thou I didn’t see them often.

Will definately be back.
