  • Family site at a Kirriemuir farm and stables with Angus Glens views
  • Cairngorms National Park 25 minutes’ drive; V&A Dundee 35 minutes
  • Spacious camping field with electric hook-ups; shops 10 minutes’ drive
Looking to do some hiking in the Angus Glens or Cairngorms National Park? Family-owned Auchlishie, 10 minutes’ drive from Kirriemuir shops and bars, is handy for both, along with fishing on Lintrathen Loch and a golf course five minutes’ drive from the pitches. The spacious camping field here has electric hook-ups and a water supply for all the pitches. Amenities stretch to a washing-up area and toilet block, but if you’d prefer a little more comfort during your stay, showers and kitchen facilities are both available by separate negotiation. Hopefully you’ll spot plenty of wildlife on site, including red and roe deer, hares, geese and red kites. While well-behaved dogs are welcome to accompany you, this is a working farm and livery stable with no secure fencing around the campsite, so please keep your pets under close control. If you’re not mad-keen walkers, there’s still masses to do hereabouts. Kirriemuir is birthplace to author JM Barrie, the sprawling Glamis Castle (15 minutes’ drive) is open for guided tours of opulent apartments, and Blairgowrie (25 minutes) is the gateway to mountain biking and abseiling in Glenshee. Sitting on the side of the River Tay, Dundee (35 minutes) is home to the superb V&A Dundee and the restored wooden warship HMS Unicorn.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Very quiet camping location. We were lucky and had the whole place to ourselves. We did not pay the extra small charge for a shower but from looking inside, it was very new and clean. The campsite has a newly build hostel which looked lovely. The outside toilet is part of the hostel building and was immaculate. There is a little village about a 5 minute drive which had a few smaller shops. Loads of fields on site to walk around as the site is also used for horse riding.

Disliked No outside sink for cleaning dishes but we knew this when booking. Would be a great little addition. There was a kitchen inside the hostel which is located on site but not part of the camping pitch.

Liked Quiet open site

Disliked No contact details of how to access shower or anything else really. Was my first time camping & felt things could have gone wrong quite easily

From the manager: Dear Carol
I am sorry you felt you did not have a good experience on your one night stay with us.
As we provide not only a toilet on site but access to shower facility we feel we provide good value for money as well as the peace and quiet.
My phone number is clearly advertised to all guests and should anyone need to contact me to clarify anything I am readily available and in fact we always have someone based on the farm who can help..
It was interesting to note that the night you stayed we received two five star reviews from other guests.
Best wishes
