Eco Camping Glamping: Organic eggs from the site hens

General

  • Eco-friendly site in Miltown Malbay, a hub of traditional music
  • A five-minute drive from Spanish Point and the Wild Atlantic Way
  • Fresh produce for sale on site from the organic smallholding

Ireland's known as the Emerald Isle, but this County Clare site is green in more ways than one…

Eco Camping Glamping is a peaceful park three kilometres from seaside strolls along the wild west coast. Head to this off-grid, eco-conscious site to wake up to views of green fields, native trees and wildflower meadows. All the power here is supplied by renewable sources, including the handy charging points where you can juice up your gadgets. There's also an organic smallholding on site, meaning that the folk that run this place are well-placed to supply you with healthy goodies like free-range eggs and fresh salad.

The surrounding landscape is pleasant and gentle indeed, but more dramatic views are just around the corner. Head to the coast (five minutes’ drive) to join the Wild Atlantic Way – highlights along this well-trodden trail include the Cliffs of Moher, Spanish Point and the lush Loop Head Peninsula.

Eco Camping Glamping is close to Miltown Malbay – so close, in fact, that this town's food shops, bars and pubs can all be reached within a five-minute walk. This place is known as 'the home of traditional Irish music', so a toe-tapping pint or two at a local live music night should certainly be on the cards during your stay.

A friendly, eco friendly campsite, excellent for short stays20/06/2022

Very earthy and welcoming feel to this campsite. We loved being among the animals and our pitch was plenty big enough for us. The location of the campsite, right on the edge of the village of Milltown Malbay is excellent also. We had a great weekend and will likely be back a few more times over the course of the summer. Thanks Michael for your hospitality and continued good luck with your Eco campsite.

A lovely place with natural bee friendly surroundings. We particularly loved the access to various animals.
Close proximity to town centre and shop.
Facilities are simple but clean and using the compost toilet and outdoor sink were an experience in a good way. If you are into your own comforts it's probably not for you, but we enjoyed this place more than other more "luxurious" camp sites we stayed before.
We appreciated the leaflet with lots of tips about things to do in the area.
Overall a great stay and we'll definitely be back!

Located, only minutes away from the centre of Milltown Malbay and the beautiful beach of Spanish Point, this incredible find of a campsite, feels a bit like a secret you won’t want to share.
Our immediate sense was that this was a safe place, that the kids could run freely and interact with surprisingly tame farm animals and the ever patient owner Michail (excuse the spelling)
Our eldest spent a long weekend scavenging food for the rabbits and ducks (and receiving fresh eggs in return), whilst our youngest met new friends and disappeared off to play without the need for our constant vigilance.
The campsite is basic but that’s the charm, I hope that this isn’t lost with success.
    We’ll be back

I loved the wild camping experience and being off grid. Michel was an excellent host and gave us a tour of the site so that we were able to learn more about sustainability and off grid living. It was in a quiet location yet only a few minutes walk into town, located near to many of the best beaches on the West coast of Ireland. A great base from which to explore. I felt safe and secure on the site.

Local attractions

This stretch of the Clare coast really does hit the ball out of the proverbial park. As it's the closest beach, you'll most likely want to kick things off at Spanish Point (five minutes' drive), a peaceful stretch of sand named after Armada ships that were shipwrecked nearby in 1588. There's also a beachfront golf club here (also five minutes), a nifty nine-holer with ace sea views.

Onwards next to further-flung spots like White Strand beach (25 minutes), the Loop Head Peninsula (30 minutes) and the Cliffs of Moher (30 minutes), each and every one of which is full of natural loveliness. The latter spot is particularly impressive and one of the most visited locales in all of Ireland – with eight kilometres of dramatic coastal vistas, 20 species of nesting birds and UNESCO Global Geopark status, there's certainly a lot to reel fresh air-loving travellers in.

There are a good few critters to be seen around site, but any tiddlers in your crew can be rewarded for/cajoled into behaving well with a trip to Willie Daly's Donkey Farm (20 minutes); Aillwee Caves (50 minutes) is also highly likely to capture kids' imaginations.
