General
- Countryside setting at the foot of Benbradagh Mountain
- Spectacular views
- Dogs and kids very welcome
Off to explore Ireland's utterly gorge north coast? Settle mountainly down at Hillfoot Caravan Site and Camping near Derry's Dungiven.
The site is run by very friendly Mervyn and team (not forgetting famous campsite collie Ben) and is in a scenic countryside setting at the foot of Benbradagh Mountain: 'views to die for', 'brilliant', 'smashing' and 'stunning' are just a few of the compliments already heaped on the site, setting and staff by happy Hillfoot guests.
Mervyn and co take great care of the land where the pitches are and ask all guests to do the same so the landscape is protected. Waste disposal points, a chemical disposal point, fresh water and bins are all conveniently located.
Small folk are very welcome at Hillfoot and there's loads of room for them to run safely around; the team just asks that children are supervised/kept within sight at all times as there's often machinery and cars around the farmhouse. Dogs are most welcome too, but again please take care and keep them on leads at all times as the site is surrounded by fields full of sheep and cows. Two dogs are allowed per tourer or motorhome.
The Hillfoot amenities include two handsomely converted toilet and shower facilities and a meeting area for small groups and parties: contact Mervyn when you arrive if you want to use this latter and he'll be happy to sort you out.

Local attractions
Going coastwards – the Antrim coast is what most people visiting these parts come to see – the Causeway Coastal Route running from Belfast to Derry is within a short drive of the site and passes through the Causeway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along with lots of old villages and coastal towns such as Ballycastle. The holiday resort of Benone is less than half an hour's drive to the coast in the north and has miles of golden sands, part of which are dog-friendly.
Towns and cities are well within an hour's drive, such as Ballykelly on the road towards Derry and with the walking trails of nearby Walworth Wood. There's also 'gateway to the glens' Ballymena and its museums and market 30 miles to the east, Antrim and its two castles, and Coleraine, within about half an hour of the site and recommended by the Hillfoot team for shopping and most of the major brand stores.
And if you want to travel a little further, take the Foyle ferry about 20 minutes from Hillfoot which will take you over Lough Foyle and into Co Donegal in the Irish Republic.
