  • Family-friendly camping on a hill farm near Ballycastle, County Antrim
  • Walks and bike rides on site; a 10-minute drive to Ballycastle beach
  • Serviced pitches on a dark skies site with hot showers and livestock
Here’s the chance to spend quality time outdoors with loved ones, with loads of space to roam and for kids to play. Want to experience rural life on a working hill farm? The folks running the family campsite at Watertop Open Farm near Ballycastle in County Antrim have been welcoming guests for more than 30 years, so they must be doing something right. They’re doing absolutely everything right as it turns out. For starters: fully serviced pitches with hot showers, a play area for kids and lots of cuddly livestock to befriend, plus safe off-road paths around the farm for campers to explore. Having said that, if you’re looking for party nights, kids’ clubs and TVs in your tent, this site is possibly not your cup of tea... On the other hand, if you’re after spectacular coast and hill views, and traffic-free hiking or biking routes amid forests, waterfalls and mountains, you’re definitely in the right place. As a couple of added bonuses, you’re pretty much guaranteed quiet nights of sound sleep in the peaceful north-coast countryside, and thanks to the lack of light pollution hereabouts, on clear nights you can spot a gazillion stars twinkling up above.

Liked: The facilities were spotless. Hot and clean showers. Toilets were cleaned regularly. Beautiful scenery, fantastic walks on site. Owner was very helpful. Beautiful little museum cottage on site that had a log fire every evening, perfect for toasting marshmallows with younger members of the family.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Open space, Great Views, Fantastic Walks. Quiet area, picnic tables, big pitch area. You can loan a firepit and logs and have a campfire beside your tent. Games for children. Hot showers and clean toilets. Easy check in, no wifi but good 4G/5G. Just look for your name on the board to get your pitch number :)

Disliked: Wished the toilets were closer to the campsite but can't be helped.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nice quiet farm with easy self check in. Pitches where very well spread out. Lovely location! My two year old loved the animals and the park! Facilities where clean and staff where friendly.

Disliked: Little bit run down, could be excellent if the Childrens park, go carts and mini golf where done up a bit, but the farm does have great potential!!
