  • Spacious farm site in a peaceful Wiltshire village
  • In Kington Langley, half an hour's drive from Bath
  • Quiet meadow location; on-site woodland for nature walks
Mown meadows, avenues of lime trees, willow domes and living fences – what more could you ask for? Church Farm is a few minutes' stroll from Kington Langley, an attractive village deep in the Wiltshire countryside. With large meadows and woodlands, it opens up stays with plenty of space, fresh air and comfort. Guests coming here can count on a good level of privacy too, as no more than 10 groups are welcomed to this 10-acre site at any one time. This historic farm has buildings that go back to the 17th century, so it's very much in keeping with Kington Langley – a traditionally English spot with a duck pond, village green, playground and croquet club. Elsewhere on site, there's pleasant natural scenery like ancient oaks and ash trees to admire on woodland walks. Barbecues (lifted well off the grass, please) and well-behaved dogs are allowed – they need to be kept on leads while on site, but you'll find plenty of space to take them out for exercise in the nearby Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the edge of which is a 10-minute drive away. Handily, Chippenham (five minutes' drive) has supermarkets, shops and cafés, as well as a train line that can get you into central Bristol in 30 minutes or London in just over an hour.

Local attractions

For rainy days or times when you don't want to venture too far afield, head to the local leisure centre (five minutes' drive) for a spot of exercise with the family. Make sure to have a good look around the nearby market town of Corsham (15 minutes) while you're here too – it's home to historic houses, peacocks and lots of old-fashioned Wiltshire pubs. Grand country estates like Bowood House and Gardens (20 minutes), Dyrham Park (20 minutes) and Avebury Manor (30 minutes) should certainly be on your itinerary too, and booking a guided tour of the Prince of Wales' Royal Gardens at Highgrove (25 minutes) can also be arranged if you're up for trying something particularly fancy. If you're starting to get garden fatigue, worry not – bigger towns and cities like Bath (half an hour) and Bristol (35 minutes) are close enough if you need some urban grit to counterbalance Wiltshire's pretty pastoral landscapes. Visit great Victorian engineering feats like Brunel's SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge (35 minutes) or take the kids to the cinema, bowling or to Bristol Zoo Gardens (40 minutes) for family-friendly days out.
