Park Farm Campsite: What a view

General

  • Simple pitches on an organic dairy farm with lovely rural views
  • On National Cycle Route 254; 15 minutes' drive from the Cotswolds
  • Buy fresh eggs on site; footpaths around the farm

Park Farm Campsite is part of an organic dairy farm spread over 250 acres of peaceful Wiltshire countryside 10 minutes’ drive from Royal Wootton Bassett.

A stay here will give you something of a glimpse into proper farming life: around 120 cows are milked twice daily, and you’ll be able to see them and a small herd of Belted Galloway beef cows going about their life in the neighbouring fields. A small flock of chickens live here too, so you can buy fresh eggs on site for a fab farm-style breakfast.

There’s only a handful of pitches at this peaceful site, so you should have plenty of space in which to relax and unwind while looking out over the rural views (sunrises are particularly fine around here if you can haul yourselves out of bed in time). If you’d prefer to take in the scenery on the move, take a wander along the footpaths around the farm and out into the surrounding woods or pedal off along National Cycle Route 254, which runs past the site.

Looking a little further afield, it’s a drive of around 15 minutes to the historic town of Malmesbury and the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (a place of many lovely things to see and do).

Life on site is pretty simple, with just portaloos and a washing-up area on the facilities front; a local pub is three miles away if you fancy an evening out.

Please note

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

This is a quiet site: no music is allowed.

No gas barbecues allowed.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Minimum spacing of 3 metres between pitches.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Beautiful location, very private and secluded, with natural surroundings. Very untouched, almost 'wild camping' - which is our preference. They have a horse trailer that has been converted into a compost toilet, a washing up area, and a place where you can buy locally produced eggs, jam, apple juice and chutney.

Very peaceful site, owners were very friendly, chickens and honesty farm shop were nice to see. Composting toilet was very clean and no smell!

Was only 25-30 min walk from bus stop at Callow Hill, although as a warning no service on sundays so need to walk back to Wootton Bassett for main bus route to chippenham/swindon (about 5 miles).

    Disliked:

There is a slight incline to pitches although to be honest wasn't really an issue, but I did slightly slide down my mat in the night!

Beautiful location, amazing views and so peaceful!
Minimal facilities but that’s exactly what we were looking for: rubbish collection point, compost toilet, area for washing plates etc and little extras like marshmallows, fire kit, eggs etc left for sale with honesty jar if you wanted them.
Immaculately clean and well looked after.
Would definitely come here again & thoroughly recommend it as a place to escape to for some peace & quiet.
