  • Family-run Somerset farm site 10 minutes from the A303
  • On the Macmillan Way, 25 minutes' drive from Glastonbury
  • Firepits allowed and wood for sale on site
Set down for a stay surrounded by the south Somerset countryside at Willowbank Farm. At this family-run and family-friendly site run by farmer Martin, you'll be well-based for a spot of stargazing, wildlife spotting and plenty of fresh air. It's on the route of the 290-mile Macmillan Way footpath, 25 minutes' drive from Glastonbury and 40 minutes from Longleat's safari and adventure park. (And it's all easy to get to as well, as the A303 is a mere 10 minutes away – making it potentially rather handy for a stopover.) Surrounded by a working farm with fields actively farmed throughout the year, the site is pretty peaceful. Guests can pick a plot where they please. With all the open spaces, there’s plenty of places for kids to let off some steam and families to play games, look out for wildlife, build firepits (there is wood available to buy on site) or unwind with a barbecue (bring your own with you). As the site is off-grid, bring a torch along to avoid any late-night stumbles as you make your way to the composting toilets. If you're planning on doing a big shop for supplies, there are large supermarkets 20 minutes’ drive away in Wincanton or a smaller food shop good for the basics 10 minutes’ drive away. In Castle Cary (10 minutes’ drive), there are more food shops, butchers and pubs serving tasty grub. Or if you prefer your country pubs, there’s a cosy inn five minutes’ drive away too.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful location, lots of space. Perfect semi wild campsite with 3 compost toilets and drinking water available if needed.

Disliked If I have to mention something it's the nearest shop was about 5 miles non the less it's a minor for the peaceful stay we had.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Directions took you straight to location, big field, very quiet through a cute little village, only 20 mins from Glastonbury and 5 mins from A37, clean compost loo's, fresh water tap, cows as neighbours, picnic benches, dogs allowed off lead although I didn't have mine with me this time, camp fires allowed.

Disliked I was the only one there so did feel a little worried at first as I dont know the area. Could've done with cutting some more grass, at least around the picnic benches, also expensive up against other sites with no facilities, no pub or shop near by

Lots of space and good basic facilities…

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Positives: Price very cheap. You get water, compost toilets and a flat pitch.
As the stars represent 3 is GOOD.

Disliked Recommendations:
-yes it's a farmers field, it needs to be rolled to remove the tramlines, during the night made it difficult to get to the toilet. Likely hood of rolling your ankle. V High.
-Toilet. Would not lock from the inside.
-Hand washing facilities. Zero. There's water. It would be nice to clean your hands.
-Hand sanitizer. There's a pump provided, no sanitizer in it.
- Access, coming from one direction you can't just turn in. To sharp. Could benefit from a wider or squared access for larger vans.
- beautification. One large part mown. The other part that isnt, either wild flower or leave to grow, make it more interesting and appealing to look at, rather than an expanse of unused field, massive potential here, just needs a little bit of thought.

Overall for a one nighter it was fine. Didn't see the owner. Just a message via txt asking for payment. No check in or reply after from owner

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Loved our week stay here! So quiet and peaceful. It is basic but totally makes up for it in the views. We enjoyed that it was basic as most of the time we had the whole area to ourselves. Martin was great. Overall we really loved this campsite and would definitely recommend.
