  • Luxurious up-cycled lodges 10 minutes’ drive from Bruton in Somerset
  • Glastonbury Festival Site 20 minutes’ drive; Cheddar Gorge 45 minutes
  • Stunning views from covered decking with picnic tables and firepits
Spectacular Somerset countryside views, luxury accommodation and Bruton fine-dining restaurants within a leisurely half-hour’s walk. You’ve got all that at Happy on the Hill, where a couple of stylish wooden lodges are tucked neatly into the side of Creech Hill and surrounded by ancient woodlands to protect against the weather. These up-cycled, well-designed and cosy hillside hideaways have lots of touches of home, from well-equipped, hand-crafted kitchen corners to proper double beds and elegant roll-top baths in the ensuites. Light pours in through floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can keep tabs on the valley and hill views from your comfy sofa, while each lodge remains nice and warm year-round thanks to the woodburning stoves. Outside space includes covered decking with seating and tables for alfresco dining. Cuddle up around your firepit or spark up a barbecue as you watch colourful sunsets over Glastonbury Tor in the distance, indulge in stargazing on clear nights and listen out for the hooting of the resident owls that roost in the trees. If you’re bringing the family dog(s), you’ll be pleased to know there are rural walks right from the pitches along old drovers’ lanes, or you can stroll into Bruton in around half an hour for shops, restaurants and cafés.

Gabriel's Wagon cabin

Liked: What a fantastic location. Me and my wife spent the Easter Weekend here with our dog, to explore the local area. It was a great hub for visiting Burton, Shepton Mallet where we did a tour of the prison, and Stourhead estate. The wagon was incredible cozy. Wood burning stove already lit for when we arrived, along with a surprise cake which was delicious. Neil & Susan were very attentive hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay (pup included who got her own complimentary treats on arrival!) Outside fire pit on a clear sky, watching the stars, and relaxing on the comfy bed looking out through the big window into the field beyond, listening to the birdsong were definite highlights. Would definitely come back. Highly recommend!
