Warren Bay Holiday Village: On-site playground

General

  • Somerset holiday village with sea views 15 minutes’ drive from Watchet
  • Exmoor National Park and Tropiquaria Wildlife Park 10 minutes’ drive
  • Playground and private beach; pubs and shop 15 minutes’ drive

Warren Bay Holiday Village is a family-friendly (and family-run) holiday park on a seven-acre field with grass pitches (some sloping) overlooking Bristol Channel.

Pitches are neatly tended and dotted with trees. On-site facilities include modern toilet blocks and waste-disposal points, and a launderette near reception.

There’s a kids’ play area at the top of the park, and direct access down a wooded lane to the park’s own private beach, where families can have hours of fun exploring its many pools or hunting for fossils.

Dogs are welcome to join you on your Somerset holiday, but they must be kept on a lead at all times while on the caravan park and exercised off site.

There are a few pubs, takeaways and restaurants in Watchet (15 minutes’ drive) as well as a small convenience store. For supermarkets, head to Minehead, where you can pick up everything you need if you’re sticking to self-catering.

Would not recommend due to lack of any level pitches.31/05/2023

Gents toilets and showers were good.

    Disliked:

Ladies toilets and showers were very dirty with hair and mud all over the floor. There was not a single level pitch for our VW Campervan on the site, despite us only being one of four other tourers on the entire site.

Super clean toilets and showers23/05/2023

As per other reviews, we arrived when reception was closed and were left to our own devices to find a pitch.

We booked a hook-up pitch for our Camper but couldn’t get this to work when we arrived (this was our fault as first timers using the hook-up as we seemingly hadn’t flicked an essential switch in our van!!!). But, we are so glad we couldn’t get the hook-up to work at the time because it prompted us to move to a flat tent pitch at the top of the field and we had the best views and sunsets! The field was otherwise sloping.

The toilets / showers / washing up areas were meticulously clean.

We had a really fab couple of nights.

Watchet is a 20 minute walk along the coastal path that runs along the side of the campsite and there is a (steep) ramp down to the pebbly beach.

The view and option to put the caravan where we wanted!
    Clean toilets and shower areas.

    Disliked:

The shower buttons being outside of the showers so once automatic shut off if more time is required you’d have to stop showering to press button and cover up to do so!
Shop only open for 2 hours and stocks very little!

  • Liked:

Good location near the sea and close to several tourist destinations
Toilets and washing up area regularly cleaned to a good stanard

    Disliked:

We never in a 4 day stay say any of the owner/managers on site.
No welcome pack of any kind
Sign on the window of the Site office stating Tourers go to Camping field
We got to the field and there were on a Thursday Night 20 -25 hardstanding but only 2 were free as all of the rest were taken with long term and permanent stays. A static site for touring caravans.
No water points anywhere near the hardstanding or camping fields
To take waste brown or grey was a serious walk up a steep hill of 50-100yrds
    Shower:
To work the shower you pressed a button outside on the opposite wall
No where to change in private, leaving you to change in the corridor and put your clothes outside the cubicles. NO hooks inside to hand anything other than a towel. No seat inside the cubicle.
There was once a club house but this is now boarded up,
"pubs and shop 15 minutes’ drive" - Road is LONG TERM closed to Watchet so this is not true.
Site rules: "Touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans with the door built on the left-hand side are not permitted." - Isn't this all British Motorhomes and Caravans?

A very clean tidy site with a good toilet block. Good views over the Bristol Channel.
Despite my comments below we thoroughly enjoyed our stay..

    Disliked:

It seemed odd that there was no contact with staff and that there was no check-in!
We felt that we could have arrived and left at any time and that no-one knew we were there.
The site was a little steeper than we hoped but there were some blocks around so we coped. well.
The walk to collect water was a bit steep too.
Too many seasonal pitches with un-attended 'vans for my liking...
