  • A small, adults-only site
  • Close to Wimbleball lake on the edge of Exmoor National Park.
  • Modern facilities in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere

Welcome to Lowtrow Cross, a small, friendly adults-only touring and camping site located in 4 acres of unspoilt countryside, close to Wimbleball Lake on the Somerset and Devon borders and on the edge of beautiful Exmoor National Park.

This lovely part of the South West is teeming with wildlife and is the perfect place for the country lover and ideal for those wanting a relaxing break, to take advantage of the miles of wonderful, uncrowded walking, cycle trails, fishing, sailing and riding or just to unwind, read a book and breathe in the clean Somerset air.

Those interested in geocaching, birdwatching or stargazing are in the right place. There are several Geocaches on Haddon Hill and around the lake, while many species of bird from woodpeckers to goldfinches can be seen nesting and feeding on site. The site is also blessed with magnificent sunsets and night skies.

Lowtrow Cross makes an excellent base for visiting the many, varied local attractions and for exploring this truly rural part of the West Country with glorious views whichever way you choose to go or as a peaceful retreat from a hectic lifestyle.

Children under the age of 17 are not allowed on site which makes us the perfect choice for couples looking for a relaxing break and who appreciate the natural surroundings.

The owners live on site and are proud of their 'home', the friendly wardens Allen and Anne who are always happy to help, can be found working hard on site maintaining the grounds and facilities to a high standard.

This is a small site and the facilities are in proportion to its size, so please don’t expect a supermarket on site or miles of dog walk, but everything is more than adequate for the number of visitors staying. As the campsite is 6 miles from the nearest town, the small, well-stocked on site shop selling essentials and local produce is much appreciated by guests.

The aim is to keep everything as unspoilt as possible while still offering the essential facilities that will ensure your visit with us is a pleasurable one, no games room, clubhouse or entertainment here, however, If you want a break from cooking or fancy sampling a pint of local beer or cider, then the Lowtrow Cross Inn, adjacent to the site, is there to welcome you and your well-behaved dog.
