General

  • Quiet working farm in the Somerset countryside
  • Free range meat for breakfast or BBQ direct from the farm
  • Dogs and fires welcome

Hornblotton Farm is a 50-acre working farm specialising in rare breeds of sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks - all with the full support of working border collies and farm cats.

If you're expecting luxury accommodation, this may not be your ideal choice! But if you're after a laid-back off-grid holiday, the chance to build your own campfire, feed the animals (if you fancy) and generally experience life on a real working farm, then this is the right place to come.

This is 100% a working farm run by Faye, the owner (who we’re sure you’ll see out and about working hard during your stay) - there is a camping area but it is not a dedicated campsite.

Due to the animals calling round the clock, Faye may not be there to greet you upon arrival, but feel free to set up camp (as directed on your confirmation email). A warm welcome is what you’ll find at Hornblotton Farm - along with plenty of animals for children (and big kids) to meet.

The site can supply hungry guests with delicious bacon, sausages and eggs for breakfasts or burgers for barbecues, all direct from the farm. You can even order half a pig or sheep to take home with you, all butchered to your requirements (subject to availability).

Well-behaved pooches are welcome on site, and if you fancy something a little different, Faye is a professional dog trainer and will share her knowledge with you during agility training classes for all levels (please arrange prior to arrival).

We have no clubhouse, no bar, no washing-up facilities, no launderette and currently no showers. But what is offered is good old-fashioned back-to-basics camping, the use of a clean but basic toilet and wash block, some limited wifi (remember, this is a very rural site!); and, moreover, plenty of outdoor space to explore and lots of animals to interact with, all in a relaxed atmosphere. Just don’t forget your wellies!

Please note the site can be a little tricky to find as the whole village has one postcode. Please use the directions provided as satnavs won’t take you direct to the farm.

Directions

By car
If you are using a satnav, please type in BA4 6SF. The whole village has the same postcode so that will drop you outside Orchard Park Farm. If the Orchard Park Farm is on your right-hand side, keep going. We are the second entrance on the right, directly opposite to the Rectory Farm. If you end up with Orchard Park Farm on your left, turn around.

From Shepton Mallet
Take the A37 towards Yeovil. Approximately 7.5 miles south of Shepton Mallet, take the left turn signposted Hornblotton at Four Foot crossroads. Follow the road for approximately 0.4 miles and find Hornblotton Farm on the right-hand side.

Please note
Faye may be away from the farm when you arrive. If you do arrive and she is not there, please pitch your tent on the right-hand side (anywhere you like) between the entrance gate and the second set of gates by the bungalow. The toilet block is through the farmyard around the end of the barn. It is a separate Portakabin with steps going up to the door. There are loose animals with access to this area so please just be aware of them as you go through. They are very friendly.
