Got tickets for Glastonbury Festival but not keen on mucking in with the hoi polloi? Here’s your answer: Glamp Pitching It - Glastonbury. No need to bother about pitching tents or lugging lots of gear onto the festival site, because it’s all ready and waiting for you. Simply arrive at your pre-erected bell tent and let the party begin. Staying over at this glampsite puts you within half an hour’s easy strolling distance (and that means no hills to climb) of the festival’s Blue Gate entrance, and five minutes’ walk to the free shuttle bus to and from the stages, which stops at the Bath and West Showground. Drive by car or arrive by bike – there’s safe and secure parking (involving an extra cost) and cycle storage at the glampsite, which has 24-hour security. If you’re travelling by public transport, there’s a meet-and-greet service by prior arrangement with the owners. Other really welcome facilities include the all-important hot showers – great to freshen up after a day’s dancing in a muddy field – and pamper areas with mirrors and charging points for all your devices. You can carry on the revelry back on site too, thanks to the café and bar (in a converted horsebox), or get together with new-found festival-going pals around the firepit near the covered chill-out area. Wind up your day with a sound sleep in your spacious bell tent, and get ready to do it all over again the next day.

Local attractions

Chances are your stay will be all about catching your favourite bands at Glastonbury Festival, but should you fancy a change of scenery, hit the stylish restaurants and art galleries in smart little Bruton (15 minutes’ drive), or browse the hippie shops in historic Glastonbury town (20 minutes). If you’re keen to bag a bargain, make for the discount stores at Clarks Village (25 minutes). For a spot of Somerset sightseeing, go deep underground to tour subterranean caverns filled with limestone formations at Wookey Hole Caves (25 minutes), or admire the ornate, gothic-style facade of Wells Cathedral (15 minutes), bristling with gargoyles. Make a day of it on a driving safari through the big-cat enclosures at Longleat (half an hour), where you can also take a boat cruise across the ornamental lake to the Gorilla Enclosure or wander among colourful flower beds in the Secret Garden. If you need to rest up your weary feet, board the East Somerset Railway (10 minutes) to relax as the steam train chugs through wooded countryside.
