What customers say
This campsite is praised for its amazing location, offering stunning lake views and beautiful walks. Visitors highlight clean toilet and shower facilities, generous pitch sizes, and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Dog friendliness, helpful staff, and on-site amenities like a cafe and kayak hire are frequently mentioned positives. However, some reviews note that facilities could be cleaner, updated, and that the site can be expensive. Concerns were also raised about a lack of staff presence during stormy weather and at night, as well as issues with pitch allocation and bin emptying when busy.

Great value and great location
Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Great location, fab facilities, really wonderful bike rides alongside the lake. Great for kids and well placed for exploring Exmoor
Disliked If I’m being fussy, the cut grass we a bit long and get all over the place when wet.

Basic site, no warm welcome, no view, but close to a beautiful lake
Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch
Liked Quiet site, fairly generous pitches. The walk to the lake is lovely and the lake itself is really beautiful.
Disliked No welcome, didn’t know which pitch and couldn’t find anyone to help. Had to wait at the activity centre for 15 minutes until finally someone arrived to tell us our pitch and then we had to drive to the site. Showers and toilets are very basic and the timer in the shower is frustrating, has to be pressed regularly to get water to rinse. There’s no view from the pitches but a quick walk and you are at the lake which is lovely.

Excellent site with clean facilities and friendly staff
Kingfisher camping pod
Liked The camping hut was basic, it is a wooden tent, but it suited our needs for a wet bank holiday weekend!
Disliked Apart from a small drip in the hut, everything was great.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and recommendation! We really appreciated you letting us know about the leak during you stay. We're glad we could offer another pod at the time and the issue has now been sorted. Hope to see you again soon!
Excellent site with good facilities
Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch
Liked The facilities were very clean with a good supply of hot water. A quiet site overlooking (at a distance) the lake. Good location, although very narrow roads as we approached and left. Lot of wildlife around the site and the lake with nice walks and information boards. The cafe wasn't open at the time of our visit but would be a nice place to call when open. Looked like there was an adventure playground for children but we didn't visit it.
Disliked Nothing

Great location, good site, good facilities
Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch
Liked Location was excellent. Right on the lake which is lovely to walk around. Water activities available to those who want them.
Shower block was slightly dated however water pressure was good, showers were good temperature, lots of dry space for clean clothes towels etc.
Disliked No staff on site. Think there was a number to call but no one to check you in, direct you, tell you about the site etc.

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch
Liked Great location, peaceful, well maintained with fantastic scenery!
Showers cleaned daily along with toilets.
The lake is a great place for a hike, we went and walked the full perimeter which took just over 3 hours for a 9 mile walk.
They advertise activities on the lake, but these are weather permitting.
Unfortunately we didn't get chance to book any due to a storm, but that's not there fault!
Campsite ground has good 4g signal too.
Small cofe shop on site which serves locally made baked goods and a fantastic coffee!
We are already planning to book again with nicer weather.
