General

  • Secluded site available for exclusive bookings
  • Within easy driving distance of Glastonbury and the Jurassic Coast
  • Fully furnished accommodation with towels and bedding included

Ditch the tent and go glamping with the folk at secluded Somerset site Driftaway Camping: with a very limited number of accommodation units here, you can book them both and have this woodland site to your group's very own self.

All guests have to do here is show up, as the Driftaway team has already pitched the accommodation and furnished both the safari tent and the yurt with a double bed, towels, bedding, blankets and other bits and bobs you might find handy. Two or three small single fold-out mattresses are also included for small glampers – or hire a canvas tipi tent for them to have their own adventure.

Campfires are allowed for those who like to sit, cook and stare at the stars, but if you can't be faffed cooking while on hol, arrange with the Driftaway Camping Woodlands team to deliver dinner right to your door – or an affordable picnic while you're out and about exploring the many things to do in the area.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Please note the units have no ensuite toilet facilities. Two clean toilet cabins are available on one side of the meadow. There's also a simple, basic but very clean warm shower set up for campers to use in the 'shower shed'.

What can i say..... the weather was lovely the first day, rained the second day :(. This cant be helped though. We still went to Lyme Regis in the pouring rain haha. Kids had a fantastic time. Hosts we superb (Brownies are fantastic). So much to do in such little time.

Will be visiting again in the near future :)

would be fantastic if you could get a Hot tub there.

    Disliked:

    Nothing

From the manager...

Would love to do the hot tub idea, but proximity to water supply would be a problem due to the location of the tents, which are far from services - sorry!

There is everything to like about this venue and location. It's easy to find and get to and the experience is wonderful from the moment you arrive. Nigel and Liz are lovely hosts and have created a small, well equipped, clean and comfortable environment to stay and have fun. There was everything our family needed to ensure we had a mini adventure whether staying at the site cooking on the open fire, exploring the woodland or venturing out to the many wonderful local beaches and

There was nothing to dislike here. Even the chemical loo's, rain and wind overnight on the canvass, and the early morning bird song, didn't detract from a stay that was only a positive and hugely enjoyable experience.

On arrival there was a nice cuppa and a plate of brownies. We stayed in the Yurt that's tucked away on the edge of the tree line, everything needed is provided. Absolutely lovely place to stay. First time there and I'm sure we will be going back. The only complaint was from my 5 year old daughter who said the birds were too noisy but I don't think you can beat a nice dawn chorus to wake you up.

There wasn't anything we didn't like about this site, the setting was peaceful and calming, the accommodation was different to what we are used to but it made our stay more exciting and it was lovely and inviting and very well kept, and the site being situated not too far from the Jurassic coast for lovely days out was great. The site is great for kids as it has plenty of room for them to play and explore. What made this site all the more better was the owners Liz and Nigel. They were very warm and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed, even adding in some lovely extras such as marshmallows and chocolate for the kids and a lovely cupper and brownies when we arrived. Nothing was too much for them they really are the perfect hosts. Will definitely be going back and we have already been telling friends and family about it.

Directions

From St Mary’s Church, Chard, on the A358:
Take the turning opposite the church on to the B3162 to Forton and continue for 1 mile until reaching the village of Forton. Drive through the village, round the sharp left-hand bend, over the speed humps and drop down in to the dip where an old railway bridge used to go over the road. The road continues straight up hill in front of you and after approximately 100m Woodlands is the first property on your left – a bungalow with a gravel driveway, where Driftaway Camping is located.

From the A30 heading west:
Take the left turning on to the B3167 at Cricket St Thomas Hotel. Follow this road for approximately 1.5 miles until you come to the B3162 turning on your right signposted to Chard and Forton. Follow this road down hill for 1/2 mile and Woodlands is on your right – a bungalow with gravel driveway, where Driftaway Camping is located.

From the south on the A358:
As you pass through Tytherleigh, shortly afterwards take the right turning to Tatworth/Ford Abbey/South Chard on the B3167. Continue for nearly 3 miles and take the B3162 turning on your left to Chard and Forton. Go down hill for 1/2 mile and Woodlands is on your right – a bungalow with gravel driveway where Driftaway Camping is located.
