Paddleboarding on the river
Riverside camping
Self launch from the private jetty
A lovely sunset over the site

  • Relaxing riverside family-run campsite on the Somerset Levels
  • Glastonbury, Wells and Cheddar Gorge within a half-hour drive
  • Jetty for paddleboards and fishing; next to Sustrans cycle route 33
Ready for a little adventure on the Somerset Levels? Little Eden Adventures is a great spot if you love kayaking, gorge walking, fishing, cycling, fell running or birdwatching. You may well want to start with a bit of exploring the river – the site has its own private jetty where you can launch your paddleboards, and if you don’t have your own you can hire them (or kayaks or Canadian canoes) from the sister site four miles away. That riverside location also means you can go fishing while you’re here. Beyond the river, there’s plenty more to explore nearby – head out for walks or bike rides in the Mendips or Quantock Hills, go climbing at Cheddar Gorge, find wild swimming spots, or hit the coast for a day at the beach. Glastonbury, Wells, Bath, Bristol and Longleat are all within day-tripping distance, and closer to home the Sustrans National Cycle Route 33 runs just past the site. If all of that sounds a little tiring, you’ll be pleased to hear that there’s also plenty of scope to chill out at Little Eden. Take a spot by the river and you may well spot damselflies and kingfishers darting along the water; look overhead for lots of birdlife too. There’s a games box you’re welcome to dip into, and you can also bring a barbecue or head to the firepit area for an evening by the fire. Facilities on site include a garden kitchenette, a washing machine, showers and toilets. The nearby sister site has a farm shop, a café-bar and activities including archery and axe throwing.

What customers say

This peaceful, natural campsite boasts a beautiful riverside location, offering a laid-back atmosphere perfect for nature lovers and water activities. Guests appreciate the freedom to pitch anywhere and the well-stocked kitchen and fireplace amenities. While some found the toilet and shower facilities basic, with occasional issues like wet floors and lack of hot water, others were pleasantly surprised by hot showers. Improvements to river access and clearer communication about parking and off-site activities would be beneficial.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely campsite, simple, rustic, right on the river. No issues, drove up, pitched up, fire place was great to cook on, not overlooked by the families near by. Suited us just fine for the night.
The kitchen was a nice touch with some bits and pieces available if you’d forgotten anything.
Nice shower/toilet block alongside the not so nice one with the wet floor.
Overall a great stay- look out for the rabbits!

Disliked The toilet block was very wet on the floor.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful location with well stocked amenities. The setting is tranquil and the work that's gone in to creating such a great campsite is clear. There's an onsite kitchen, great toilets, showers and firewood available onsite. When we visited we were the only people staying and we felt like we had the world to ourselves. We sat and watched an owl hunt as the sun went down.

Disliked Slight road noise in the mornings, but the peaceful night and evening more than made up for it.

Local attractions

The level of adventure your break has is totally up to you – you might like to go for something big, like caving or climbing at Cheddar Gorge (25 minutes’ drive) or plan a series of mini adventures, like a leisurely day of paddleboarding, a sunset walk or a dip in Clevedon Marine Lake (half an hour). Burnham-on-Sea (15 minutes) is another great coastal spot, with a sandy beach, a pier and a couple of nearby nature reserves (plus fish and chips, of course). For city strolls, take a trip to Wells (25 minutes), England’s smallest city, or head off to Bath (an hour), to wander among the famed honey-coloured historic buildings. Glastonbury (20 minutes) is also worth a visit, with lots of unusal shops, an abbey and the chance to climb Glastonbury Tor. Other days out might take you to the nature-filled Avalon Marshes Centre (10 minutes), to Wookey Hole (half an hour), or to Longleat (an hour) for an exotic safari experience.
