Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely open and friendly site. Very generous pitches plus close to water, bins etc. We arrive after a week of torrential rain (our booking elsewhere had been cancelled at short notice as the pitch was waterlogged) so were relieved to find the pitch was very well drained with no mud anywhere. Huge bonus that you are allowed firepits on your site which made for a very enjoyable experience. Almost every family was out around the fire each night but it was still silent by 10pm. The quietest site I have ever been to. Toilets and showers are warm, clean and generous in size and they also provide handsoap and towel, unlimited water etc. My daughter loved the park and the games room and was delighted when an ice-cream van arrived on a sunny Friday evening! There was also a fish & chip van on Saturday but we did not try this. The owners were lovely and friendly and always on hand but also left you alone to enjoy your camping experience.

Disliked: The toilet block is a fair distance from the camping field but this didn't bother us. There is no Wifi onsite but also the phone signal was very poor so we couldn't even listed to music etc. Hinkley Point Power station can be seen very clearly from the site and there is sometimes some rumbling from it. It didn't bother us and was actually quite pretty at night time!

Liked: What a lovely place to stay. We had a bell tent for myself and daughter, there was plenty of room and very comfortable. The shower block was very clean and well cared for as were the grounds.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Fantastic site. Have been coming here the past 3 years and every time we love it. Nice to see the improvements they’ve been making over that time. The toilets, showers and washing up area are always clean. Although we don’t fish they have three lakes to fish on and it is fascinating watching people fish at all times of day.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: The site had everything we needed and very well kept. Showers were nice, games room with some shared appliances too and an honesty shop were very handy. Dog walking area was perfect for the dog and the site very dog friendly. Also the picnic bench provided was a nice touch. Good location for local walks. We went to the Steart Marshes.

From the manager: i'm afraid this is where they have to be due to planning permission and also the source of the water. We are off grid with all our water supply and due to water pressure, the toilets/showers need to be where they are.

Local attractions

Burton Springs' closest chunk of coast is at Burnham-On-Sea about seven and a half miles away. Seaside resort Weston-super-Mare is a few miles further along the coast from Burnham; for the Exmoor coastline, stretches of shoreline and sand like Kilve, Dunster, Minehead and Porlock are a short drive in the other direction. The South West Coast Path, Britain's longest long-distance path, starts from Minehead on its epic 630 miles via the coasts of Devon and Cornwall to finish up at Poole Harbour in Dorset. If this is a tad too much, other hikes around the region include the Quantock Hills, England's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; Brean Down, a Site of Special Scientific Interest managed by the National Trust, and the Mendip Hills, also an AONB and home to splendidly spectacular Cheddar Gorge. The Burton team also reckons guests should take a look at the small wildlife and adventure park Tropiquaria, the National Trust's Dunster Castle and Fyne Court, the Bakelite Museum at Wilton, the RSPB reserve at Greylake, and the rides and attractions of Brean Leisure Park. Paintballing is available at Cannington Park, nearby at Bridgwater.
