  • Peaceful Somerset escape at a family farm on the outskirts of Bath
  • Bath Racecourse five minutes’ drive and Bath Abbey 15 minutes
  • Off-grid site with showers; barbecue hut, sauna and hot tub all extra
Looking for a peaceful spot that’s handy for the historic sights of Bath? Off-grid Lansdown Campsite is set on a family farm in stunning countryside atop Lansdown Hill, with views over the city yet far enough away to be unaffected by its buzz. It’s also a clever choice if you’re weekending from London or Wales, as the site is only 15 minutes’ drive from Junction 18 of the M4. So what’s included with your stay? Modern showers and a washing-up area, drinking water and a communal firepit, which is lovely to cosy up around after days of exploration in Bath and Somerset. Luxurious amenities that come with an extra charge include a barbecue hut, sauna and hot tub. Dogs are more than welcome, and they can have a walk around the farm fields (please keep them on a lead). The site is right opposite Lansdown Park and Ride (catch Service 31 right into Bath city centre; it runs every 15 minutes), so you can abandon the car for the duration of your stay, and it’s also walking distance (around 20 minutes on foot) from Bath Racecourse and a couple of foodie pubs.

What customers say

This campsite offers an excellent location for visiting Bath and Bristol, with a convenient park and ride opposite. Reviewers praise the friendly and helpful owner, John, and highlight the fantastic, spacious, and hot showers. Pitches provide good privacy. While some mention proximity to a road and an initial impression of the site being new, most found the facilities clean and well-maintained, including pleasant-smelling toilets with paper towels. Minor drawbacks include a slight incline on some tent pitches and basic washing-up facilities.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked John, the campingowner, nice smelll in the toilets, paper towels in the toilets. Good location to stay for visiting Bath and Bristol. Big space for our tent with enough privacy. P & R just in opposite of the campsite where you can take the bus to Bath.

Disliked Near a road with a lot of traffic. At first sight the campsite doesn’t look nice, because it is just new, but it is gonna to be a great place with John.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Price, communication and site are excellent. Location is ideal for 2 pensioners with bus passes as the park and ride is almost opposite the gate.
Arrival instructions were good, however, the access is a little confusing.
