Liked We loved our stay at Avon Valley! Amazing that campers can use the park after hours. All the staff we dealt with were so lovely and helpful! The facilities on the park are great, lots of hand washing stations, water refills points and an absolute bonus that everything (expect food and quads) is free!! The kiddos loved their stay from start to finish! The campsite kitchen was ideal as we’d forgotten our mini bbq! If you’re camping and visiting the park, it’s perfect as you can pop back to camp for lunch! The slip and slide and silent disco were a HUGE hit with us and the kiddos! I personally loved the pig racing! The time table of activity’s was super! We also stayed the weekend of the balloon fiesta, such a good view!

Disliked The campsite its self is ok! The facilities are very basic and “rustic” The toilets blocked twice on our stay, I just don’t think they could keep up with the amount of people there. No fault of the park, but most of the campers had ZERO respect for the quiet hours of 9pm - 6am. People still up shouting and partying at 12! If you’re used to a quiet night sleep (like we are!) the train the other side of the campsite goes all night.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The park itself was amazing for my 4, 6, 9 yrs old boys for 1.5 days you can use the park for the full day on the day you leave. We had to head off but had two nights and spent from 3pm on the day we arrived until 8pm in the park and a full day the next day. I think more than two whole days and they'd have been getting bored but for the time we had it was back to back fun and all the different things going on.

It's really nice that when the park shuts at 5pm (after the awesome foam party ends) everyone camping / staying stays on and so you then have an evening park scene with the kids playing in the really good sand and water pit or the impressive indoor playbarn (which has slides and other things to keep any child from 2 to 10 entertained for a good time) both of which near to the bar.

The camping pitches were decent enough and no-one partying late when we were there like some of the reviews say and I suspect most of the time the guests are all with young children and so the general vibe is family friendly.

Disliked The toilet doors are still a bit tough to shut properly for some of them. It didn't really bother me and my boys but I can see how it could be annoying for some.

There is a train track just the other side of the camping area but they run only every half hour (or so it seems) and aren't that noisy (I'm a fairly light sleeper and didn't get woken).

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Great place, good facilities as advertised, pitch was close to everything. Some lovely families staying as well and everyone respectful of noise etc, and given the access to the park this was ideal for kids. Thank you we had a great time.

Liked The pizza.

Disliked The toilets and showers were disgusting and there were sanitary towels stuck to the walls of one of the shower cubicles. They aren’t cleaned very often, lucky if it’s cleaned once a day. No lights in the showers and gaps so you can see in. Some toilet doors don’t lock so you have to go in pairs. Got walked in on at one point which wasn’t fun. There was a storm with thunder last night, power went out, went to ask if they could reset the breaker but was shouted at, told to get off the property and that they will call the ranger. Got up this morning, still no power, toilets in complete darkness as no windows. Most of the fun stuff in the adventure park was closed which was crazy because it was a bank holiday weekend and the school holidays as well as a heatwave. The website had photos of a slip and slide, doesn’t look like it’s been used in quite some time. The climbing frame was shakey, the go carts were all chained up, the mini train was out of service and the drop slide outside was chained off. This place has seen better days and it wasn’t cheap to camp here so we were really disappointed. We won’t be back! The website also has paddle boarding and kayaking. That’s not a thing here, the launch ramp is overgrown and full of duck poop and the water was brown with large boats coming back and forth. All in all, not what was advertised.

Bell tent (hot tub)

Liked Would recommend to anyone with young children. My two absolute loved it. We stayed Monday - Friday in the Nordic bell tent with the hot tub. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The park itself had everything the kids loves doing and when the weather was bad there was a big indoor play area. We will be coming back at some point next year.

Disliked The only negative thing I have to say would be the hot tub water started to smell after a couple of days. Not sure if anything can be done with it being a wood fire got tub. I really don't know enough about them or if that's normal.

Liked Everything!! This place is absolutely fantastic if you have kids! There’s so much to do, and it’s effectively free to get in, as the camping is the same price as a family of 4 admission.

Disliked Toilets and showers aren’t the best.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Staff did move us to a grass pitch when we asked, and provided meal vouchers.

Disliked Motorhome pitches are just a dusty car park opposite loud and basic toilet/shower blocks. Facilities across the site were dirty and poorly maintained, including the toilets and adventure park. The bar/restaurant menu was very limited with basic items unavailable, and the food itself was poor quality and overpriced. At £100 a night this is hugely overpriced, and the photos on PitchUp do not show the true reality. When we raised our concerns, our feedback was dismissed, we were gaslit into feeling like we were the problem, and we were eventually asked to leave. Only after emailing head office did we get 60% refunded.

Local attractions

From ancient Roman baths to elegant Georgian architecture, the city of Bath (20 minutes’ drive) is well worth a visit. Check out the collections at the Victoria Art Gallery and the Holburne Museum (keep an eye on their calendar for interactive workshops), or follow in the footsteps of Jane Austen, who lived here for five years in the early 1800s. Explore the legacy of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in Bristol (25 minutes), where the famed Victorian engineer built the vertiginous Clifton Suspension Bridge and the passenger liner SS Great Britain. Bristol is also known for its street art, which includes Banksy’s take on The Girl with the Pearl Earring. In the Mendip Hills National Landscape, Cheddar Gorge (45 minutes) is a limestone gorge with guided tours of subterranean caves. There are more limestone caverns at Wookey Hole (45 minutes), which have a millennia-long history ranging from Neanderthals to Celt tribes and the Romans.
