  • Adults-only site in an orchard on a cider farm with 3,000 apple trees
  • A 15-minute drive from West Bay beach on the Jurassic Coast
  • Taproom serving champion ciders; cider tours; live music on Saturdays
Three cheers for something deliciously different. Dorset Nectar Orchard Campsite is an adults-only campsite where you can pitch up among 3,000 organic apple trees. And you get easy access to the Jurassic Coast’s West Bay beach (15 minutes’ drive) into the bargain. The grass pitches are widely spaced – guests have 12 metres between each one – meaning there’s ample room for dozing off in the shade… You could also settle down on the numerous benches in the cider garden or bound over to the barbecue area in the run-up to outdoor dinners. Alternatively, raised firepits are available, and there’s wood to purchase for small, safe cooking by your tent. And the best bit? A taproom selling 13 kinds of award-winning cider, as well as apple juice, craft beers and apple cider vinegar. The site also runs tours of the farm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. On Saturdays, pick up hot food from the on-site Oliver's Kitchen, whether it's cider sausage baps, roasted potatoes, smoked chicken or something else. On Saturdays, there is also live music in the Cider Garden. On other days of the week there are footpaths through neighbouring fields or by the river Brit to take advantage of, or you could stroll to the pub half a mile down the road to fill up on excellent food within easy walking distance. For other eats, there’s a farm shop just outside Bridport (10 minutes), where you can also pick up goodies at twice-weekly markets. In terms of other facilities, the site has four toilets and two showers that are cleaned regularly. There's also the on-site cider shop, which sells biscuits, chutneys, jams, sausages, craft ales and local wines in addition to apple-related products.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked really how we were in between the rows of trees and they being plenty of flexibly so you were able to have plenty of space between other campers. also really nice have the cider tasting room and live music on the Saturday night as well.

Disliked only down side was the lack of toilet/shower facilities, however they are currently in the process of building a extra shower/toilet block, so once this is done I don't really see any downsides about the place.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Stayed for a long weekend with my two adult boys. Unique camping experience amongst the trees in a cider apple orchard. Everything including cider production is run by family members. Each pitch is a row of trees all to yourself 10s of metres long. A small metal fire pit is provided for each pitch and you can buy wood and kindling to last about an evening for about £12 from the tasting room. You can bring your own wood too. A tour of the cider farm and production room is available on saturdays at 11 which is well worth it - wassail with a loud voice if you join! Organic cider produced on site is available to purchase draft and in bottles. Large area with picnic tables and inside tasting room can be used to while away the hours chatting or playing cards and trying the many differnt ciders available. Area is decorated with topiary and metal statues from another family business. Saturday night live music on site adds another dimension to the stay. Highly recommended site! No kids or dogs (this is a plus for me!). Wifi available in tasting room.

Disliked If you don't like narrow country lanes (plenty of passing places though) this isnt the site for you. Toilet and shower facilities are currently slightly limited (although absolutely fine) but a new shower block is being built. Once this is complete I would give 10 stars.

Liked Pitches

Disliked Owners and facilities.
Two toilets shared between campsite and bar.
Shop that just sells tourist tat.
Mixed messages from staff leading to aggressive encounters. Some say drive to your pitch, others shout about the trees. When we politely said they should have a consistent message, the owner was very patronising and had an argument with his son on the rules in front of us.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great Location nice and peaceful.

Disliked No Dogs aloud on Campsite. But the owners dog were left wondering around and stole food from our tent right in front of us aswell as other people's. Facilities where dirty the toilet in the shower wasn't even attached to the floor! Not enough toilets or showers on the campsite. Staff weren't overly friendly.

From the manager: To be frank - we were over extended this weekend. There was a hiccup with the booking synchronisation and we ended up being overbooked. At the same time we have a staff member who is very ill and other staff were away manning an event bar.
I am sorry you came on this weekend and found the facilities lacking. We are usually a well managed camp site known for it's amazing customer service and clean facilities and we have a huge following of returning customers. I hope you will visit us again.

Best Wishes

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Brilliant campsite with tent pitches in the middle of an orchard. The rows of trees made it feel more private between pitches especially as you can set up anywhere along the length of your section.
Fire pits were provided and, being on an orchard, they sold their own large range of ciders. Saturday night there was live music and brilliant food. Facilities were good and they are in the process of upgrading to add more showers

Local attractions

Sipping cider is a treat all of its own, but you might also like to sample others summery drinks at the nearby Furleigh Estate (five minutes’ drive), a local vineyard that does a nice line in still and sparkling wines. Once equipped with a suitable supply of your favourite beverage, pack it in a hamper and head to a local beauty spot for picnics: Colmer's Hill viewpoint (15 minutes), Gerrard's Hill (15 minutes), Colmers Hill (15 minutes), Mangerton Mill (15 minutes) and West Bay beach (15 minutes) would all make excellent backdrops. If it's cider that has your heart, though, learn a little more about its heritage at the cider museum in Owermoigne (40 minutes). There's also an antique clock museum in town if you need a little break from the drinks. As well as rural and coastal vistas, this part of Dorset has a lot of attractive gardens, including the well-groomed grounds at Mapperton House (15 minutes) and Bennetts Water Gardens (40 minutes), which is geared towards water lilies. A trip to Abbotsbury (30 minutes), meanwhile, can combine a wander around the subtropical gardens, the swannery and the maze. For fossil-hunting, Lyme Regis (30 minutes) is your best bet. Afterwards, you can compare your finds with the giant Jurassic specimens on display at the town's two museums.
