  • Family-friendly Dorset site with views over the Tarrant Valley
  • A 10-minute drive from Blandford Forum; half an hour to West Lulworth
  • Set on a working farm, a mile from an independent café and farm shop
Surrounded by tree-lined country lanes and gentle green hills, Little Hundreds Campsite is a quiet campsite deep in rural Dorset. This Tarrant Crawford spot borders Little Hundreds coppice, where there's plenty of leafy shade to escape to on hot summer's days. You can look forward to fantastic views whatever the weather at this rural site: to the south, you have vistas over meadows that roll down towards the Stour river, while to the north the farmland just stretches on and on… This laidback site has basic facilities like toilets, showers and a washing-up area, as well as handy extras like solar charging points. In addition, this relaxed spot gives you the freedom to pitch your tent wherever you choose and allows campfires in the designated areas. There are also firepits – with wood on site – available to hire to help arrange campfire evenings with minimal hassle. The site is a few minutes' walk from the footpaths that run up and down the Tarrant Valley and is roughly a mile from an independent farm shop and café. The market town of Blandford Forum (10 minutes' drive) is a short drive away if you’re looking for restaurants or a supermarket; it's also accessible via a quiet cycle path that runs along a flat former railway line.

Local attractions

Surround yourself with the rustling of leaves, fragrant scents and gorgeous blooms at Keyneston Mill (15 minutes' walk), a small-scale botanical garden that produces sweet-smelling plants for its line of luxury perfumes. Live music events, arts workshops and guided garden tours are all available here, so have a look at what's on during your visit and book in advance to avoid disappointment. Days out along the Jurassic Coast area are easily arranged at Little Hundreds Campsite: Lulworth Cove is only half an hour away by road, while other pretty coastal locations like Kimmeridge Bay (35 minutes) are easily accessible too. However much time you spend at the coast, don't ignore Dorset's gorgeous hinterland: from the cobbled streets of Shaftesbury (30 minutes) to the ruins of Corfe Castle and the Isle of Purbeck's steam railway (30 minutes), there's something for all the family. For more time outdoors, bring your clubs along and head to Ashley Woods Golf Club (10 minutes' drive), or explore the National Trust-maintained gardens and grounds at Kingston Lacy (10 minutes), one of the prettiest country estates in Dorset.

What customers say

Little Hundreds Campsite offers a peaceful, spacious, and well-maintained rural escape. Visitors consistently praise the exceptional cleanliness and thoughtful touches of the facilities, particularly the showers and toilets, which are frequently described as new, well-appointed, and charming with floral decorations. The friendly and helpful hosts, the availability of fire pits and logs, ample space, and beautiful surroundings, including opportunities for stargazing, are also highly regarded. While some note occasional road noise and the distance to water points, overall feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (two person)

Liked We really enjoyed our stay here! It was a lovely little campsite and the facilities looked very new (wooden cabin toilets and showers). The showers were hot and there were beautiful flowers around the site for a personal touch. We also spotted phone charging facilities, although didn’t stay long enough to need to use them. Campers were spread out around the field so we didn’t feel overlooked. There was also a hammock in the trees and some fire pits available to hire. We walked 30 minutes down to the local pub for dinner (The Anchor Inn Shapwick) and the menu was great.

Disliked Nothing!

Liked Loved the campsite. Beautiful views from the fields. The facilities were basic but very well maintained, cleaned regularly and the showers were just like home.
The flower pots made it more homely too.
The owners were friendly and checked on us regularly.
Fire wood was a good price too.
We would definitely recommend this lovely campsite

Liked A lovely campsite! Very peaceful and relaxed, perfect hosts. I bought my dog with me and there are hours and hours of walking straight off the campsite. Large supermarket a few miles away. Toilets and showers all great. Would definitely return here for a longer stay.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (solo)

Liked Nice area for walks & cycling nearby with plenty of historic villages and rural footpaths.
I loved the firepit experience both nights (my first go, but I'm probably not my last, if I camp again - it just tops off the vibe :) )
Great loos and showers.
Great that I didn't have to rush off on the day of departure (sorry I went a bit over the already generous departure time).

Disliked Not a complaint but I would advise others to be aware that
a. this is a working farm area so you might hear farm machinery sometimes.
b. the bottom of the field is next to a lightly - used road.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (two person)

Liked Fabulous campsite in a beautiful spot. We particularly liked the fact that you pitch wherever you choose and there are no marked out or allocated pitches which makes it much more relaxing somehow. The toilets and showers were clean and charming with flowers in for a cute little touch. The site is well maintained and the solar charging points a nice touch. We will definitely return - thank you Dudley!!

Liked Fantastic campsite. Back to the routes of camping when I was a kid, in a field, at a fair price. The facilities could be classed as "basic" but is that not the point of camping? The toilets were always clean and perfect for what us humans need. There were two showers, powered from a gas boiler so they were always a perfect temperature and the pressure was great 👍. The hosts were readily available, very friendly and came round to say hello and make sure we had everything we needed. The area is amazing for walks. We will certainly be returning.

Liked Lovely host, great couple of days spent relaxing here. Warm shower, clean loo, fire pit & wood available.

Disliked Great if you have a bike but not a lot to walk too, nice local pub 1.5 miles away but they had unfortunately stopped serving food when we arrived at 2.30.
