  • Peaceful adults-only farm site one mile from the Jurassic coast
  • A 10-minute drive from Durdle Door; 15 minutes from Weymouth
  • Walking distance from the South West Coast Path and a dog-friendly pub
Sign yourself up for sea views and nearby sandy stretches… a 15-minute drive from Weymouth Beach and Dorchester, Zambuka Campsite is set up for a rather peaceful stay one mile from the Jurassic Coast. Here, you’ll be well-situated for setting off along the South West Coast Path half an hour’s walk away, touching down at the National Trust’s Ringstead Bay (10 minutes’ drive) or ogling over the iconic Durdle Door (10 minutes’ drive). The family has farmed at this site for over 50 years, so owner Kay is well-prepared to answer any questions you might have. She’ll also point you in the direction of what to see and do in the surrounding countryside, even if your most pressing question is where to get the nicest fish and chips locally (spoiler, there are several spots within five minutes’ drive of the site). Facilities on the site include an amenities block and a washing-up area, handy if built up a sizable stash of dirty tupperware from picnics out and about. If you don’t want your dog to miss out on the picnics and splendid seaside routes, then don’t worry, as dogs are also welcome on site. Looking to sample some good pub grub or local specialities? It’s likely you do, and handily, there are several restaurants and pubs within five minutes’ drive of the site. One such place is a dog-friendly 13th-century pub on the South West Coast Path that you can walk to in half an hour.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Beautiful views

Disliked: Inadequate facilities. Unisex toilets and showers with no hand dryer. Quite isolated as you had to negotiate a busy road with barely any pavement or a field of cows and a bull to walk out of the campsite. No sight of the owner to get any information. Never did find the Elsan point. Overpriced for what you get unfortunately.

Liked: Lovely spot with great views. Very quiet location and all were respectful. Minimal signal on site (Vodafone) which actually for me is lovely to be able to switch off! Kay was so friendly, a great host. Lovely place to walk with dogs too. 5* will definitely return.

Liked: Small quiet camp site, with great views, clean facilities and decent showers.

Disliked: Could do with some signage for site, we drove past it twice. Bit of a dangerous walk to bus stop, as there's no footpath.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Great view and very clean facilities. Never had such hot water in a shower block before!

Disliked: The owner made no attempt to come and see if everything was ok and just communicated over text. Would of been nice to of seen them. Pitch had a great view but very very windy and just off a very noisy road. Had to pay cash a they didn’t even offer us any change which I thought was cheeky

Electric optional hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: The location was used as a base for day trips along the Dorset coast. The view from the campsite is great as you can see the coast. The site is small with basic facilities which is exactly what we want. Although electricity is additional it is very fairly priced.

Disliked: It is difficult to walk to the coast from the site due to unfriendly roads.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: We loved everything about Zambuka. Kay is so lovely and welcoming, the view is stunning, the toilets and showers are excellent. The location was perfect. The cows came to visit up to the fence, the field is great. We can’t wait to come back. We loved the cafe on the beach just down the road, we also visited Durdle Door, Lyme Regis, Portland Bill, Weymouth Harbour, and Swanage. A really beautiful stay. Thank you.

Disliked: Our only struggle was finding the site entrance on the busy road, a sign down on the road would be really helpful, especially as phone signal is limited

Local attractions

Walks over the Jurassic coast are particularly splendid around here, and especially across Chesil Beach (25 minutes’ drive). At 18 miles long, feel free to take on a short stretch or tackle the entire barrier beach. The views from the cliffs are spectacular at Durdle Door (20 minutes), so get picture ready there. Otherwise, roll up to Weymouth Beach (15 minutes) and arm yourself with a surfboard or pull on a wetsuit or bathing costume for a lap of the beach and other watersports. swimming, surfing and other watersports (15 minutes). Abbotsbury Swannery (half an hour) is another pretty cool coastal location, home to a colony of nesting swans. There are walks around the spacious grounds of Lulworth Castle Wareham (20 minutes) too. If you’re looking for a lighter sort of stroll, just visit Dorchester (15 minutes) and lazily work your way around the sights. The town has a deep literary history, as well as museums, castles and shops. While you’re focusing on scoping out historical sites, there’s an Iron Age hillfort at Maiden Castle (20 minutes). For something more modern-day, though, SEA LIFE Centre Weymouth (10 minutes) doubles up as an adventure park and aquarium.
