What customers say

This campsite is highly praised for its beautiful lake, which is ideal for paddleboarding and swimming, and its tranquil setting. Visitors frequently highlight the friendly and helpful staff, spacious pitches, and clean facilities, particularly the newer shower blocks. The on-site cafe and proximity to a local pub are also noted as positives. While some guests experienced issues with water pressure in the showers and limited opening hours for the cafe, the overall sentiment is very positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Great welcome. The facilities were always clean.

The lake is amazing for paddleboarding!

Amazing coffee at the cafe!

Disliked Showers near cafe cold and no more than a dribble. Might be due to the time of day. The other block were super.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The space that each pitch had

Disliked The mess someone had left in the clean up area (food still in the sink from their washing up) also the showers could do with being directed down slightly as the water hits the door and your clothes that are hung up or maybe a bigger divider between the shower area and the changing area

Liked We had a lovely time really enjoyed the lake. The location was perfect in the countryside only a short walk to the pub. We enjoyed the camp fire very much. Sarah was very friendly and helpful and the whole campsite was nice and quiet at night. We will be coming back for sure. Thank you….Phil & Stacie 🙂

Local attractions

Need a tipple to top off your evening by the lake? Take a 10-minute walk along to the village’s very own vineyard, Bride Valley Vineyard, for tours, tastings and a bottle or two to sip while the sun goes down. (If you’re more of a beer drinker, you’ll need to take the 15-minute drive to Palmers Brewery, which also runs excellent tours.) Time for the beach? Take your pick from the scenic offerings of West Bay and Burton Bradstock (both 15 minutes’ drive) and the 18-mile shingle stretch at Chesil Beach (half an hour), or head off to Weymouth (half an hour) to see the Sandworld sand sculptures and ogle the underwater beasts at the Sea Life Centre. Away from the coast, top days out might take you to Abbotsbury Swannery and gardens (20 minutes) or to explore the Teddy Bear Museum, Dinosaur Museum and Maiden Castle Iron Age fort in Dorchester (half an hour).
