  • Spacious north Dorset glamping site at the foot of Hambledon Hill
  • On the edge of Child Okeford, a short walk from the village pub
  • Peaceful location with large fishing lake, play area and wildlife
Fishing, football, firepit evenings, fabulous walks… if you’ve got any of these in mind for your north Dorset break, it’s likely that Fluxmere Glamping Retreat will be a firm favourite. There are seven acres of land at this site on the edge of the village of Child Okeford, but only a handful of glamping units – and that means there’s plenty of space for each one, giving a real sense of seclusion for your stay. The accommodation area only takes up part of the property, too – the place is also home to a large fishing lake (which guests are welcome to use) and some nature areas where you’ll often spot wildlife including ducks and peacocks. There’s also a play area in the main field, with football goals, a swingball game, a tree swing, a mud kitchen and a trampoline – plenty of low-tech fun to keep the youngsters amused. The accommodation is low-tech too – in fact it’s completely off grid, but you’ll have solar panels to provide power for the fridge, lights and your chargers. Indoor log burners and outdoor firepits are also provided, and you can cook on the latter if you like. All the glamping units here have been nicely thought out, with proper beds, kitchen areas and outdoor seating where you can take in the rural views. Shared facilities include a smart washroom block with flushing toilets and showers, plus books and outdoor games to borrow. The village is home to a popular pub, an organic café and a village shop; for other foodie needs, head to Sturminster Newton or Blandford Forum, both 15 minutes’ drive away.

Yurt

Liked This place is a tonic from everyday busy family life.
It is a great for spending quality family time amongst nature & perfect place for country for walks as it is located at the bottom of Hambildon Hill

The accommodation is very nice and a real bonus to have a kitchenette next to the Yurt

The shower and washing facilities were clean and the showers powerful with endless hot water

Alex, the host, and her dog are really friendly and helpful

Disliked It is a great location for walking and exploring sweet Dorset villages.

It took a little longer to get to the coast than we'd have liked but it was not too far that said
