  • Luxury glamping accommodation in Dorset countryside near Child Okeford
  • A 10-minute drive to the North Dorset Trailway; 45 minutes to Longleat
  • Playground, fishing lake, bug barn, bird hide and honesty shop on site
Bloomfield Camping offers fabulous glamping in Dorset countryside, with just a few gorgeous units dotted across seven sprawling acres. Peace, quiet and that all-important space to relax are just about guaranteed, as the site is completely off grid and surrounded by nature – plus, of course, the free-ranging peacocks and ducks. Each pitch is pretty vast and pretty private, with its own gas-powered kitchen and outdoor space with firepit and grate for campfire cooking. All crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, washing up equipment, tea towels, cups and glasses are provided. A large cool box is found in each kitchen and ice blocks are exchanged daily. Several ponds on site are stocked with fish so you can have a go at casting a couple of lines, while a kids’ play area offers up a football pitch, swing ball, trampoline and climbing tyres. Everyone can learn about wildlife in the owner’s bug barn, bee hotel and hedgehog house, or hang out in the nature hut and bird hide. A small honesty shop sells local produce, ice creams and drinks, and if the weather turns sour, chances are you’ll find something to occupy yourselves among the books and board games in the “Borrows” cupboard. Bloomfield is set at the foot of the impressive Hambledon Hill… views from the top are outstanding, and the site is also close to many fabulous walks and cycle routes. Pick up supplies in the traditional Dorset village of Child Okeford (five minutes drive) or walk down in 20 minutes for a couple of pints in the pub.

Twiggy 2 bedroom safari tent

Liked: Exactly as described. Very quiet space out of our usual busy city life. Itches are so big, you feel like you are alone there. So much space around for children to run around with everything needed for them to be busy many hours. The tent was just so glamorous everything was ready in perfect condition in our arrival.

Disliked: No easy access around the ponds so very difficult for the children to do some dipping. A little ponton would be a great addition.

Twiggy 2 bedroom safari tent

Liked: Loved the accommodation - we were in Twiggy the Safari Hut, and the beautiful location. Peacocks and wildlife on our doorstep and a great walk to a local pub. Accommodation was comfortable and clean and the log burner was very welcome even in summer!
