  • Quiet family-run Dorset holiday park with stunning Chesil Beach views
  • Weymouth Beach five minutes’ drive and Lulworth Cove 40 minutes
  • Bar and restaurant with views over the sea; shops five minutes’ drive
If you’re looking for spectacular sea views, you’ll certainly get them at Pebble Bank Holiday Park, a Dorset holiday park five minutes’ drive from central Weymouth and looking across a splendid stretch of Chesil Beach to Portland. The pitches at this quiet, family-run and family-friendly spot have been set up to face the English Channel for capturing those far-reaching seascapes. The site is close to the Jurassic Coast’s section of the South West Coast Path (10 minutes’ walk), where you can head out for long hikes or take your dog for a seaside walk. Another of its biggest USPs is the proximity to the sandy beach and kids’ attractions of historic Weymouth, as well as its supermarkets, shops and range of eateries. But there’s enough to keep you occupied if you don’t feel like budging far from your pitch. Let younger kids loose in the play area, kick a ball around in the spacious camping meadow and maybe spend some time looking out for deer flitting around the periphery of the site. When it comes to making sure everyone is fed and watered, you can spark up your barbecue, or dodge the self-catering and head straight for The Fat Badger, Pebble Bank’s lively restaurant and bar, with its child-friendly menus of pizzas, burgers and hot dogs.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The location of site was excellent and pitches great
The food at Fat Badger

Disliked The fact the toilet/shower blocks for touring were actually in the middle of the static homes which probably had toilets and showers in them !!
Also didn't seem to be s warden on site overnight and some pitches were playing loud music very late at night
The Fat Badger could have price lists for their wine and staff be a little more on the ball with the dietary information of their menu !!

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Clean and pleasant site with great views. Pub and animals onsite are great addition.

Disliked One toilet and shower block for the site, which is a decent walk from the tents that need it, but right by static vans, which mostly have facilities already.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Toilets are nice and clean. Love the fact that the changing room it is part of the shower.

Disliked Not much to do
The kids’ playground is rather underwhelming—there are basically just two things: one swing and a tiny wooden playhouse with two swings attached to it. Hardly enough to keep the kids entertained for long.

The pitches are extremely close together, with very little space between tents. It feels quite cramped and offers very little privacy, which isn’t exactly ideal when you’re trying to relax and enjoy a camping trip.

Our group was separated
We booked as a group but were placed on separate pitches. When we arrived, we politely asked if we could be moved together, but we were told this wasn’t possible because the other pitches had already been checked in. Oddly enough, the pitches right next to us were completely empty, and no one ever arrived during our stay.

Overall, quite disappointing. We had booked as a group and made a point of asking to be together when we arrived, so it was frustrating to be given an explanation that simply didn’t seem to match what was actually happening on the campsite. For the price, we expected a little more space, facilities and consideration.

Liked We only stayed for one night and wish we stayed a whole week. the view was beautiful from our camping spot. We stayed on a Saturday night and was luckily enough to see a live band perform. Our young girls danced and had the time of their lives whilst we got to enjoy good food and a sunset.

Local attractions

Make Weymouth (five minutes’ drive) your first stop on a balmy day for time spent on the beach, admiring the sand sculptures at Sandworld Sculpture Park and visiting the sharks and rays at Sea Life Weymouth. It’s worth having a nose around the historic harbour as well. A drive along the dramatic Jurassic Coast might lead to Lulworth Cove (40 minutes) and its semi-circular bay. From there, you can walk to Durdle Door (half an hour on foot) for stunning views of the natural rock arch from the clifftop. For an adventure that’s a tad different, take a guided jetski tour along the coast from Jurassic Jet Ski Tours (10 minutes’ drive). Anyone with a love of wildlife can get their fill of primates at Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (40 minutes), where endangered orang-utans, chimps and gibbons have safe lives in spacious enclosures. Hit Abbotsbury Swannery (25 minutes) in May and June to see hundreds of newly hatched cygnets; you can watch them learning to fly later on in summer.
