Eweleaze Farm is a small organic farm on the south Dorset coast. It is situated in a secluded valley, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and includes ½ mile of private beach and cliffs, which now forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Every August we open Eweleaze Farm for tent camping. The campsite is located 1km off the road down a farm track, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, making it quiet and secluded, and safe for children. There are extensive sea views from most parts of the site, and guests have the use of the of the private beach, which forms part of the farm. The site covers several fields so it doesn't feel crowded, even on busy weekends, and it is usually possible to choose your own pitch. Friends and families can camp in groups as they please, and parking by your tent is allowed on most of the fields. There is loads of room for kids to run around, fly kites, play ball games and the like. Campfires are allowed, adding to the atmosphere. Firewood is available bagged in the shop, as well as from a free wood pile near the farmyard. The Farm Shop: In the farmyard we have a farm shop, which sells almost entirely organic produce including beef and lamb from the farm, pork, eggs, milk, cheese, bread, vegetables, beers, ciders and wines, as well as firewood, gas, bbqs, charcoal and other essentials. Following the success of our on-site bakery in 2011, we will be running this again in 2012 with an extended range of home baked organic breads, cakes and pastries. Also in the farmyard we sell organic Stone baked pizzas Chips, pies and pasties Breakfast rolls Salads Filled rolls Toasted sandwiches Ice creams Herbal teas The Beach: The beach is a quiet, shingly cove running along side the site and out to a rocky headland. The headland forms a sheltered area with rockpools which is good for snorkelling. The beach is clean and good for swimming. Fires and barbeques are allowed on the beach - some campers have been known to catch their own supper!

Local attractions

The South West Coast path runs along the edge of the fields above the beach, with walks to Osmington Mills, Ringstead, Durdle Door and Lulworth to the east and Weymouth to the west. Beyond Weymouth, across the bay from Eweleaze, is the Isle of Portland, the venue for the 2012 sailing Olympics. Weymouth is 7km by car (walking 4.5km), and has a sandy beach, a harbour and very good nightlife. Dorchester with its museums, market and other attractions is about 10km. There are loads of attractions in the surrounding area, although many people find they never get around to leaving the site! This coastline forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, so fossil hunting is one more activity for the kids (and adults). Area and Activities: The nearest shops are the Spar and Co-op located 2km down the road towards Weymouth. In Weymouth itself there is a large range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Dorchester is less hectic in the summer, and has more upmarket shops for crafts, gifts and antiques. We have a number of good pubs and cafes within walking distance (1-3km) of the site. Of note are the Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills, and the Oasis Cafe just west of Bowleaze Cove. For local food and drink the West Dorset website is very comprehensive
