  • Peaceful adults-only and dog-friendly site on the Isle of Purbeck
  • Five minutes' drive to Swanage, Corfe Castle and coastal paths
  • Bus stop outside the site; firepits allowed; luxury heated showers
On the hunt for a pretty and peaceful base for an Isle of Purbeck break? Bullshorn Camping could well be the place – this small and friendly site has an adults-only setup that’s just the ticket for couples and solo travellers looking to unwind in this gorgeous part of the world. Walkers and cyclists are particularly well served at this Dorset spot, with lots of quiet trails running through the surrounding area and the chance for a seaside stroll on the South West Coast Path close by too. Beaches, historic sights and the many attractions of the Jurassic Coast are all within striking distance too, and getting around should be nice and easy thanks to the bus stop just by the site. Swanage (five minutes’ drive) is your nearest town, with a beach and heritage railway as well as lots of lovely places to eat and shop. Barbecues and campfires are permitted back on site, so you may like to pick up suitable supplies while you’re there – although there is a pub half a mile away if that’s more your scene. The emphasis here is on creating a calm atmosphere for a chilled-out break, so facilities have been kept to just the essentials in the form of smart modern toilets and showers; no noisy bar or anything here.

What customers say

This adults-only campsite offers a peaceful, "back-to-basics" outdoor experience with friendly, helpful owners. Reviewers praise the immaculately clean, modern facilities, particularly the powerful hot showers. The location is considered ideal for exploring the coast. While most pitches are flat, some note gentle slopes. Occasional road noise is mentioned, though often described as minimal or bearable. Some guests suggested additional waste bins when busy. A manager's comment indicates that toilet facilities were made unisex to help alleviate queues.

Liked Super clean, showers powerful, hot and clean. Very relaxing site with not too far to walk into Dancing Ledge or other local hot-spots. Owners welcomed us as we arrived on site and were ever so kind and helpful offering advice and suggestions.

Will definitely be coming back to this site again. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and giving us a very relaxing break even just for 1 night. Just what we needed :-)

Disliked Nothing at all.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Lovely quiet and peaceful site in stunning countryside. Clean facilities, hot showers Friendly welcoming owners. Ground a little uneven but we found a pretty flat spot in the middle of the field. Road noise not really noticeable to us where we were. Great to see the owners are very fire conscious with fire beaters, sand and water buckets and fire extinguishers on hand.

Disliked There was a surcharge for an unexpected third guest staying with us which took the total price to over £50 which we thought was a little high. Early morning noise from the herd of guinea fowl (?) was a little loud but we accept that being guests on their land and it was fun to see them.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at Bullshorn, there was lots of space and it was peaceful. The facilities were clean and well maintained. We walked part of the south west coastal path. It’s a short walk to a pub and a longer walk to Swanage.

Disliked Occasional noise from traffic on the road, but it is minimal.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Nice site run by nice people. Everything was kept very clean with daily cleaning of showers and toilets.

Disliked Would have preferred more options for a flatter pitch but I guess we would need to try and arrive earlier and could be improved with access to hot water for washing up with - unless I got unlucky and was washing up when all the hot water had been used.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Lovely relaxing campsite in a great location for walks. The site has a good selection of flat pitches (we didn't need our ramps for the campervan) but there are gently sloping areas. It's select you own pitch, which we always like, so you can find the best spot. The facilities are very clean with lovely hot showers and serve the site well. The owners are lovely, friendly and very helpful answering questions and advising where to go and what to do. We will definitely return for a longer stay next time.

Liked It’s a small family run campsite. The owners were really friendly, the facilities were clean & nicer than I’ve seen elsewhere. A proper shower without a timer felt like a luxury! It was a short drive to local amenities which was helpful!
