Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great for walking the dog and plenty of footpaths. Can walk to the local pub which do very nice food and has a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. There is also a local shop that you can walk to opposite the pub. Linda and Clive who own the campsite on the farm are very friendly and welcoming. The location of the campsite farm is in beautiful surroundings. Would definitely go back there.

Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The campsite was clean and tidy and the owners weee very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Linda apologised about the marquees being set up for her Son’s wedding on our last day. The sunsets were amazing at night. The campsite was central to everything we wanted to do. Would recommend the campsite to anyone.

Disliked: A couple of campers not understanding the quiet time at 9pm and getting very drunk but they were only there for a night. We informed Linda the next morning and she was very apologetic.

Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Arrived on Tuesday for 3 nights at the farm and we were delighted! After setting up on the wrong pitch, Linda was more than accommodating despite us possibly disrupting pitch plans. The site was super calm and quiet and the facilities were excellent.

Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely campsite in the middle of rolling fields. The pitches were big and very accommodating for a large tunnel tent and awning and 2-3 cars and there was still room! You could also add pup tents easily. Just to give you an idea of size. Pitches were really quite level considering it’s on a hill. There were plenty of fire baskets and pits to borrow so you didn’t have to worry about bringing one. The kids loved going over to play on the tree swing and made some lovely friends. The facilities were good, clean and always well stocked. Clive and Linda were always very helpful and cheerful. Clive very kindly came to the rescue when we came to leave and I had a flat battery! He jump started my car with his tractor. Very very grateful and enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Disliked: Honestly, apart from the wind which is some what out of everyone’s control, I don’t think there was anything I didn’t like.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Lovely location, central to Swanage, Dorchester and Weymouth. Everything you’d expect from a campsite, with clean and modern showers / toilet facilities. Kids (12 & 8) loved seeing animals on the farm, and the warm hospitality from the owners made it a trip to remember.

Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Big pitches, relaxed atmosphere, great hosts. Liked the shepherds huts and the showering facilities. Fire pits at the pitches.

Disliked: Nothing, we liked it. One improvement would be a couple more toilet facilities.

Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We came here as our 15 year old grandson and his friend are mad on fishing. The lakes didn't disappoint and they caught many fish, biggest being a 7lb 4oz carp. Lovely views, we asked for a quiet pitch which we were given. Lovely bike rides along lanes for miles. Farm shop a 15 minute walk across fields from campsite

Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: First time camping. We were really happy with the plot given. It was in a really lovely area away from everyone else and alongside the shepherd huts. There was lovely facilities which included a washing machine and tumble dryer. Lovely clean showers and washing up facilities.

Disliked: Toilet was in an old telephone box but we couldn't use it as full of really big spiders.

Electric optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Was a beautiful site with amazing views, owners were very friendly and offered logs each evening. Pitches were big. In a great location no more than 30 minutes from weymouth, monkey world and other attractions. Lots of open space for children to play!

Disliked: Even tho pitches were big, the ones closest to the top on the electric side were very stoney and not pleasant in a tent! When we arrived there was only two pitches available so didn't have any choice even tho booked a grass pitch!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Megan, Thank you for your comments. Had we known you were unhappy with your pitch, we could easily have found an alternative. Our numbers are clearly displayed in the office window. If you come again, please be sure to mention your issue, the pitch you were on is grass over stone, so ideal for a motorhome or camper.

Local attractions

The walks around Moonfleet Farm along local lanes and through scenic Dorset countryside lead to the likes of pretty local village Milton Abbas, Milton Abbey, Athelhampton House, Cerne Abbas and sending the kids into fits of giggles when they spy mighty chalk Cerne Giant etched into the hillside. Arf. A heap of other Dorset history is a little further afield, such as that at the former Saxon cathedral of Sherborne Abbey, or at historic houses and gardens, abbeys and churches. Also go for Corfe Castle on the Isle of Purbeck and potter around the county town of Dorchester with the Dinosaur Museum, Dorchester Museum, Teddy Bear Museum, Tutankhamen Exhibition and the Roman Amphitheatre. (Have a look at the Thomas Hardy Trail and weekly market in Dorchester too.) Wareham, Swanage, Weymouth, and Salisbury are easily accessible by car and have enough to do to keep you going for several weeks; among our many recommendations are puffing along on award-wining and steamy Swanage Railway, seeing Salisbury's splendid cathedral, wandering around the RSPB reserve at Weymouth or hiking the 15 or so miles of the spectacular Purbeck Way. Fishing fan? Investigate the waters around the harbours of Poole and Weymouth.
